Petition for 24/7 Law enforcement in Southern Humboldt.
As you may already know, the Chamber has started a petition to get more law enforcement in Southern Humboldt. It reads as follows: To:
Estelle Fennell, Humboldt County Board of Supervisors
Mike Downey, Humboldt County Sheriff Provide 24/7 law enforcement coverage in Southern Humboldt. We want our community to be the safe, rural, place that we all love. In order to once again have this status, we need your help! Please get more officers in Southern Humboldt County!
For the past several months there has been no law enforcement coverage in Southern Humboldt County outside of normal business hours. Even during normal business hours there are a minimal number of officers in the area, usually one or two deputies, to cover our vast rural area. This creates an unsafe atmosphere for the public and those officers on duty. Recently there has been an escalating string of events that went without law enforcement response causing hardship on our community members and businesses.
We demand that this be taken care of. We want officers in our area 24/7 who are able to respond when needed. We are asking for this, as tax paying citizens who have the right to feel safe in our towns, on our streets, in our businesses, and especially in our homes. We will not sit back and let our community be degraded any longer by bad behavior and unsafe conditions.Sincerely,
Garberville Redway Area Chamber of Commerce
You can sign online at change.org It is our hope that our collective voice is heard and we are better staffed and serviced in our community. There have been far too many crimes that have gone unresponded to and it it escalating. Please share this link https://www.change.org/petitions/estelle-fennell-provide-24-7-law-enforcement-coverage-in-southern-humboldt on your social media or email it to your friends and family asking them to also sign.
