TANGER OUTLETS AND COYOTES DEALS TO BOOST GLENDALE BUSINESS

Tanger has been drawing huge crowds since opening November 15.  Thousands of cars pack the parking lots, and lines of shoppers can still be found in stores looking for high end bargains for the holidays.  The average holiday shopper plans to spend $749.51 this year according to a national survey.  That is up by almost $9.00 over last year.  The National Retail Federation predicts holiday sales to exceed $586 billion nationwide this season.

The approval of the Coyotes deal paves the way for prospective team owner Greg Jamison to finalize his purchase of the Coyotes from the National Hockey League.  Jamison is required by the agreement to close on the purchase of the team by January 31, 2013, but it does provide for an extension upon approval of the City Council.  The purchase of the team, coupled with a settlement of the lockout would mean for a more immediate boost to businesses….but for now, Entertainment District and Westgate businesses will have to rely on the traffic generated from Tanger Outlets and the remaining Cardinals NFL season for revenue
