2017 Magical Christmas in Glenwood

 
Thursday, November 30:
Magical Christmas in Glenwood Kick-Off 
  • 5:30 p.m. - Lighted Holiday Parade
    The tradition of the holiday lighted parade continues on Minnesota Avenue.                        Hot chocolate and popcorn at the Pocket Park, courtesy of American Solutions for Business. 
  • 6:15-6:30 p.m. - Tree Lighting Ceremony,  Central Square Cultural & Civic Center
    Join us on the front lawn of Central Square as we countdown to the Christmas season. Bring your lawn chair if you don’t want to stand and dress warm for the outdoors. Refreshments will be served following the ceremony.
  • 6:30-8:00 p.m. - Free Movie & Concessions Night, Central Square Cultural & Civic Center - Featured Movie – “Happy Feet”, rated PG. 
Thursday, December 7:
Free Community Supper, 4:00-7:00 p.m.

Glenwood Senior Center (open to all community residents), 107 Franklin Street South, Glenwood                                                           
  • Menu:  Pulled Pork Sandwich, Salad, Chips, Dessert (Hatchery Catering)  
  • Clueless the Balloon Twister & Friends
  • Horse & Wagon Rides ( Sr. Center Parking Lot)
  • Coloring Contest (begins)
(Ages 0-12 - Please put your name, age, phone number on back of your coloring page. Return completed page to the Chamber/Welcome Center Office by Monday, December 18th.  Winners in each age group will be announced Thursday, December 21 at 12 Noon.  Prizes in each category (Minnewaska Dollars) 1st - $20, 2nd $15 and 3rd $10.)

  • 10:15-10:45 a.m. Performance by Terri Clark, Dallas Smith & Kelly Prescott
  • Hot Chocolate & Cookies will be served from 9:45-10:45 a.m. while supplies last by The Oak Tree Inn & Penny's Diner 
The CP Railroad brings this train to our community as a fundraiser for our local Pope County Food Shelf.  We have drop boxes available December 1-December 11 at Minnewaska Area Elementary School, Glacial Hills Elementary School, Kingdom Kids, Glenwood State Bank, Eagle Bank, Central Square and Glenwood Chamber & Welcome Center.
 
Thursday, December 14 & 15:
Christmas Bazaar at Eagle Bank, Glenwood
Thursday, 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m., Friday, 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

Several vendors will be set up in the bank lobby to sell their products for this two day bazaar.

Glenwood Day at Andes Tower Hills, 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

Andes Tower Hills is providing a fun day for families at great prices.
Lift Ticket –$ 10.00
Lift Ticket & Ski Rental - $15.00
Lift Ticket & Snowboard Rental - $20.00
Tickets must be purchased in advance and can be picked up at the Glenwood Lakes Area Chamber & Welcome Center Office.

Santa Treat Day at Minnewaska Area Elementary & Pre-Schools

 
Thursday, December 21:
Magical Christmas in Glenwood Living Nativity, 4:00-7:00 p.m.

The Living Nativity will be located on Minnesota Avenue by the Chamber & Welcome Center.  Take a moment to reflect on the season.  See real camels, donkey and other farm animals. Enjoy music by Hope Community Church from 6:00-6:45 p.m.  Free cookies and hot cider will be served compliments of Tom’s Market, Glenwood.  Stop in at their deli/coffee shop during the living nativity 4:00-7:00 p.m.

November 25: Small Business Saturday – Shop Glenwood “Keep it Local”
 
November 25:  Glacial Ridge Ambulance Holiday Toy Drive at Shopko Hometown, Glenwood, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
 
 December 1 & 2:   Grand Opening of Central Square’s Box Office, Friday, December 1 – 4:00-7:00 p.m. & Saturday, December 2, 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m., located at 18 E Minnesota Avenue, Glenwood. Central Square’s offices are now there along with numerous displays of paintings, pottery, sculpture, jewelry, hand-woven baskets and more.

December 2:  Glacial Ridge Health Ambulance Holiday Toy Drive, Brooten Fire Hall,                                    9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.

December 2: Glenwood Retirement Village Annual Cookie Walk & Friendship Tea, 9:00 a.m.

December 2: The Pope County Historical Society will be hosting their annual Christmas Open House and Silent Auction on Saturday, December 2nd from 1:00-4:00 p.m.  Bidding will begin on Tuesday, November 28th at noon and close Saturday, December 2nd at 3:00 pm.  

December 7:  Chalk Paint Mini Workshop offered to support toy drive, 
Meco 7, Glenwood, 4:00-7:00 p.m.  Meco 7 is partnering with Glacial Ridge Ambulance’s Toy Drive by providing this fun workshop, free with the donation of a new, unwrapped gift or $10 donation to the Holiday Toy Drive.

December 7:  Ann Bickle Heritage House Christmas Open House - 2:00-5:00 p.m.

December 17:  Central Square Concert #6 of 2017 Concert Series – “The Nutcracker Ballet” by the Continental Ballet Company, 3:00 p.m. Matinee (Note Time Change).
