Highland Health Care Mardi Gras Celebration!

The special celebration for Reidelberger, who is also Highland Health Care Center’s oldest resident, included birthday cake and punch. Earlier in the day, the facility’s residents and staff enjoyed live entertainment provided by popular show choir “60s Chicks,” who sang tunes in several genres from the 1960s and beyond.

“Bertha is a cherished member of the Highland Health Care family. We were honored to host this celebration, and join her and her family on this very special occasion,” said Highland’s CEO/Administrator Katie Liszewski. “Bertha has touched countless individuals throughout her life and continues to be an inspiration. The party marked an amazing century-plus of memories and experiences.”

Reidelberger was born in Pierron, Ill. on Feb. 16, 1920, and throughout her life resided in the Pierron and Grantfork areas. She was employed at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Highland for many years, working into her eighties before retiring. Reidelberger raised four children: two boys and two girls. She has nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren. Reidelberger enjoys crocheting and quilting, and is a member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Highland.

Today, Reidelberger is very social, Liszewski said. She has lots of friends at Highland Health Care Center where she has lived since 2017, and participates in plenty of activities at the facility, including crafts, and music.
