About Us

Event Planner & Author Nicole Gates is a native of Joliet, IL. She is the single mother of Yolanda, Savanna, and twins Brooklyn & Bheanna. Nicole is passionate so passionate about event planning that she took the extra steps to become a Certified Event & Meeting Planner and Theme Event Expert.

If JOY is the feeling of grinning on the inside… then I have been in a joyous state since the age of 18! It has always been my heart’s desire to gather family, friends and my community for a fun time embraced by a memorable theme.


Nicole finally found her life’s calling and passion in the form of Hospitality. She came to admire the creativity of David Tutera and Kathy Riva two well-known event planners. Their flair for creating cutting edge events inspired her to become an event planner and not only create cutting-edge events, but theme events! Tying the event all together gives her instant gratification, always able to see the end result in her mind. Her keen sense of coordinating the menu and keepsakes to the theme, the theme to the décor and invitations, has her clients excited and eagerly anticipating her next event.


Nicole believes that everyday she’s living her life’s dream! Being an event planner gives her unspeakable joy! In 2002 she started More Than A Memory Event Planners, where we began to create events for private and corporate clients. MTM has created signature events like the Retro Cocktail Party, G.E.M.S. Celebration, Sunset Safari Party, Stress Less Fest, and The Essence of Esther Day- a full-service Pamper Party for many elated clients.
