Kiwanis 50th Annual Pancake Day

September 10, 2016

The main emphasis of the Kiwanis organization is serving the needs of children and youth, improving our communities and enjoying the friendships we make through our meetings and working together on projects.  We help to develop youth leaders, partner with local organizations to meet the community needs and join with thousands of clubs around the world to serve the global community.  Two global projects have included eliminating iodine deficiency and maternal neonatal tetanus.

Local projects for 2015-2016 include sponsoring four high school students to attend leadership camps, a Dollars for Scholars $400 scholarship, Warren County Child Abuse Prevention Council, Indianola Hope Foundation, Backpacks for Hunger, "The Zone" after school program at the Middle School, several clubs at the Indianola High School, Parks & Rec youth softball team, Indianola Fire Department, Blank Children's Hospital in Des Moines and many others.

The Kiwanis Club of Indianola is a dedicated group of volunteers working together to help the youth of our community and around the world for the past 58 years.  Anyone interested in learning more about the Kiwanis Club of Indianola can contact membership chairman Bill Smith at 961-2672 or club president, Susan Glick, at 961-3081.  The Kiwanis club meets in The Village Heritage Room the first Thursday of the month at noon for lunch, the third Thursday at 8:00 a.m. with continental breakfast and a business meeting and the 5th Thursday (when there is one) at 6:00 p.m. at a local restaurant (TBA) for supper and a program.
