EMERGE@Simpson Presents Start-Up Storm Event

November 19, 2016 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

    Des Moines metro-area entrepreneurs, college students, and high school students are invited to attend Start Up Storm 2016 on Saturday, November 19, 2016 starting at 9:30am.  The Simpson College chapter of Collegiate Entrepreneur’s’ Organization is hosting this celebration of Global Entrepreneurship Week in the Kent Center on Simpson College’s campus at 701 N. C St., Indianola, IA.
    Creativity on Tap is the event’s theme, headlined by a series of speakers and panels discussing how to harness creativity, connect people to innovations, pitch and launch a venture and grow a successful brand.  Featured guests include David Williamson on unconventional thinking, Megan McKay of Peace Tree Brewing and Ben McDougal of 1 Million Cups Des Moines.
    The event begins with pastries and networking followed by the keynote presentation by David Williamson at 10:00am, an interactive entrepreneurial panel discussion led by Indianola Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Brenda Easter, and lunch.  Megan McKay leads an after-lunch branding session, with the event concluding with a pitch contest of Simpson student venture teams hosted by Ben McDougal.
The event and pitch contest are being sponsored by Principal, the Simpson College chapter of CEO and metro-area entrepreneurs such as Riley Resource Group, Kielkopf Advisory Services, the EMERGE@Simpson program and EXIT Realty – Indianola.  There is no fee to attend, however non-Simpson students are encouraged to RSVP for lunch to laura.davison@simpson.edu.
