The National Balloon Classic has received great accolades and media exposure including being named as one of the 11 Best Small-Town Festivals in America by Readers Digest magazine, and Best of the Midwest by Midwest Living magazine. As one of the oldest and largest hot air balloon events in the country, the National Balloon Classic has been an Iowa tradition for over 40 years welcoming 50,000-90,000 guests and making it a vital contributor to tourism and specifically to our local economy.  Recently, the Iowa Festivals and Events Association invited 20 of the “best of the best” to be part of a newly founded commission that will provide resources, opportunities, and promotion to events and festivals all across Iowa. We are extremely proud to be recognized as an industry leader and to be included in this elite group.
 
We are also very proud of the substantial growth we have experienced, which significantly affects our community. The economic impact and promotional value (on a national and global scale) is something many other organizations/events cannot provide.
 
2019 is going to be a HUGE year at the Classic! Over 100 pilots are registered and bring with them, family, friends, and crew members. Pilots come from all over the country and each one receives a special Pilot Pack filled with coupons, giveaways, and tokens of appreciation.
