April is Child Abuse Prevention MonthProtecting Children is Everyone's BusinessIn the Iowa ACEs Study, one in five Iowa adults reported three or more ACEs growing up. Fifteen percent of Iowans reported four or more ACEs -an ACE score that has been shown in many studies to be tied to a wide range of poor health outcomes such as heart disease, lung disease or clinical depression. Here in Warren County, more than 40% of people surveyed reported two or more ACEs.
Preventing ACEs leads to positive long-term outcomes for children and communities by helping children grow into more prosperous and productive adults. We all have a role to play and together we can help ensure that our community is the best place for children and families to thrive. What can you do to help?
