What is Cloud Computing?

It is Not Pie in the Sky.

According to Microsoft, the top benefits of cloud computing are:
  • Cost – Cloud computing eliminates the expense of buying hardware and software as well as setting up and running on-site servers and resources.
  • Security – Many cloud providers offer a broad set of policies, technologies, and controls that strengthen your security posture overall, helping protect your data, apps, and infrastructure from potential threats.
  • Reliability – Cloud computing makes data backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity easier and less expensive because data can be mirrored at multiple redundant sites on the cloud providers’ network.
  • Scalability – Things change in business. Cloud computing allows you to adjust to those changes quicker and without the capital outlay.
  • Collaboration – Cloud computing makes collaboration a simple process. Team members can view and share information easily and securely across a cloud platform. There isn’t much point in having a team if you can’t work like a team.
  • Mobility – Cloud computing allows mobile access to corporate data via smartphone and any device with an internet connection. This is a great way to ensure that no one is left out of the loop.
