Child Abuse Prevention

This April, Warren County is joining hundreds of communities across the nation in celebrating Child Abuse Prevention Month. The national Pinwheels for Prevention campaign focuses on raising awareness that child abuse is preventable.
This month and throughout the year, The Child Abuse Prevention Council encourages individuals and organizations to play a role in making Warren County a better place for children and families. The Council operates the Wee Care Respite Nursery, the Young Parents Program, a Sexual Abuse Prevention Program, and provides education to prevent Shaken Baby Syndrome.  Helping parents gain the knowledge, skills, resources and support they need to care for their children promotes children's social and emotional well-being and prevents abuse.  Child development is the foundation for community development and everyone can play a role in strengthening families as advocates, volunteers or donors.
The pinwheels, banners, ribbons, messages are on display throughout the community in April to remind us that Protecting Children is Everyone's Business. For more information about the Child Abuse Prevention Council or to support  local prevention efforts, visit www.cap.warren.ia or call 515-249-5130.
