The Indianola Police Department is in great need of new radios. Help keep our blue safe while they protect you. Make checks payable to "Indianola Police Department" and help them reach the goal of $131,000. Donation jars are available at the Indianola Hy-Vee, Indianola YMCA, Peoples Bank, and Cal's Fine Food & Spirits. For those that donate $75 or more you will receive a free IBackTheBlue yard sign. For businesses that donate $75 or more your business name will be listed on the IBackTheBlue Facebook page.

Des Moines Metro Opera opens its 45th Anniversary Season at Camp Dodge with the Midwest premiere of David T. Little's chilling one-act opera Soldier Songs in coordination with the Iowa National Guard. Baritone Michael Mayes stars in this multimedia event that combines elements of theater, opera, rock-infused concert music and videography while exploring the loss of innocence and the difficulty of expressing the realities of war. Adapted from recorded interviews with veterans of five different American wars, Soldier Songs will be fully-produced in the Freedom Center at Camp Dodge which will underscore the relevance of this extraordinary piece and the importance of the questions it poses.
