WCED Small Business Grant Competition

Applications due February 28, 2017

Entries are currently being accepted for the Warren County Small Business Grant Contest that will award $6,000 to an existing small business and $4,000 to a start-up business. All Warren County small businesses (less than 10 employees) and entrepreneurs are encouraged to enter. To enter your business complete the application by Midnight on Tuesday, February 28th, 2017.

Des Moines Metro Opera Food and Wine Showcase

The Des Moines Metro Opera is hosting its annual Wine & Food Showcase, where 40 of the finest restaurants, caterers, wineries, and breweries from the metro area come together and allow everyone to sample their products. This exciting event is Friday, February 17 at 5:30 p.m., and takes place at the Marriott Hotel in downtown Des Moines. The night will be filled with great food, a lively atmosphere, and a silent auction. Proceeds from the event support Des Moines Metro Opera’s award-winning education and outreach programs.

Day on the Hill



Past-Chair of the Indianola Chamber of Commerce Justin Brown of Downing Construction and Indianola City Manager Ryan Waller, went to the 2017 Greater Des Moines Partnership Day on the Hill.  Attendees had the chance to visit with elected officials about mutually beneficial legislative goals and objectives for the economic betterment of Iowa.

2017 Sustainability Fair

April 18 at 10 a.m.

The Indianola Sustainability Committee is seeking vendors to participate in the  2017 Sustainability Fair to be held on Saturday, April 8, 2017, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  It will be held in the Blake Field House, located at 403 South 15th Street.  Booth space is free and electricity and tables will be provided upon request.  Complete your Registration Form today!
 
The Sustainability Fair is free and open to the public to provide information on a variety of topics including sustainable living practices, renewable energy, green building options, alternative fuel vehicles and organic gardening, just to name a few.  Sustainable topic presentations will be offered to the public during the event as well.

Warren County Fair Announces Grandstand Events

July 26 - 31

On Wednesday, July 26, the Wright Rodeo Company will put on an action-packed IRCA/UCA sanctioned rodeo, following the this thrilling event will be season 6 Runner-Up of NBC’s The Voice, Jake Worthington and his debut single “Just Keep Falling in Love,” on the Free Stage.

On Friday, July 28 and Saturday, July 29, the Iowa Missouri Truck and Tractor Pullers present the Southern Iowa Ployboy Nationals pull.
 
Tickets will be available for purchase the day of the event at the grandstand box office. More information will be available at the Warren County Fair's new website.

Beautification Blowout

April 22nd

The City Beautification Blowout is a great opportunity for the the community to show appreciation for the Indianola recreational areas. The City is seeking groups interested in participating in this city-wide event. Individuals, businesses/organizations, civic groups, or family and friends are welcome to participate.

Your group will be assigned an area to beautify. Tasks will include removing litter, debris and dead limbs from the trails and parks.  Gloves and trash bags will be provided, but we strongly recommend that you bring any other tools that might make the tasks easier such as rakes, wheel barrows, wagons, push brooms, etc.

Registration is due by Monday, April 10, 2017.  Send your team name, team contact’s name, phone number, e-mail and number of participants to Mindi Robinson at mrobinson@cityofindianola.com.
