About Us

SGVTC was founded by a parent study group from Byron E. Thompson School in El Monte, CA. Through the efforts of parents and community organizations, the Center opened its doors in June 1962 providing services to 12 orthopedically disabled adults and youth.

Today the Center provides a wide range of vocational services to an average of 350 disabled adults and youth at two locations; SGVTC in La Puente, CA and CRTC in Covina, CA. These services include evaluation, adjustment, training, job placement, supported employment, enclaves, recreation, and extended employment in a variety of vocational areas.

SGVTC/CRTC enjoys recognition as one of the leading vocational rehabilitation facilities in the nation - a direct result of the dedication and hard work on the part of staff, clients, concerned parents, community organizations, local businesses, and many interested individuals.

Mission Statement

The purpose of SGVTC/CRTC is to serve adults with vocational and social disabilities by providing traditional and innovative programs, as well as developmental and vocational rehabilitation services that will maximize their social and vocational potential.

Our goal is to provide community educational programs which enhance the communities understanding and acceptance of the disabled, and promote their recognition and integration as functional members of the community.
