Chairman's Corner

AJ Hampton

Good Evening Chamber! I hope that all is well for you as we enter the month of May. The weather is warming up! It almost feels like summertime. I am reminded of the reason that made me move to the Antelope Valley some 40 years ago; which are the charming summer days and nights. As we continue to see more businesses open up, more people are inclined to go out and experience what the Antelope Valley has to offer. On behalf of the Chamber and myself, we would like to wish you a productive and advantageous spring month. As always, my prayers go out to those who have lost a loved one during the hardship of the last few years. Our hearts also go out to those in Ukraine. Remember to stay safe and be blessed.

We are excited to say that our membership continues to grow and prosper. We are thrilled with the attendance at our ribbon cuttings as well as our monthly luncheons and breakfast events. Furthermore, we are enthusiastic about the new addition of our monthly mixers. All dates and registration links are available on our calendar, which we encourage you to look at. We are also VERY excited as our Semi-Annual Flea Market draws closer! We look forward to seeing you there! As Chairman of the Board, I am aiming for more involvement in terms of ambassadors and directors. If you are interested in joining the board, please feel free to call us for further detail. It has been a pleasure to witness the growth of the Antelope Valley from a chamber perspective.

The Chamber would like to extend a full hearted thank you for everyone's continued support. We are ready to move forward with exciting things to support you and the growth of your business. We hope to see you at the Flea Market! God Bless.

New Law In Effect:

Beginning July 1, 2022, the Responsible Beverage Service Training Act will go into effect. The law requires that anyone who serves alcohol, manages servers, delivers alcohol, takes orders, or checks IDs at a business that serves alcohol on-site must be trained to serve alcohol legally and safely to the public by August 31, 2022. The law authorized the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) to establish the Responsible Beverage Server Training Program (RBSTP). Under the program, every alcohol server and their manager must have a valid Responsible Beverage Server (RBS) certification from ABC.

You can begin step one by registering with ABC through the RBS training portal. For more information, please visit our Facebook or Instagram @avchambersofcommerce or Antelope Valley Chambers of Commerce.

Ambassador Spotlight:

Alex Barclay

What do you do and for how long?
I own an advertising agency, Barclay Digital. We do things like website design, social media advertising, photography, and video production.
How has the Chamber helped you?

The chamber has helped me grow my business by getting me in front of more potential customers.

Why are you an ambassador?
I volunteer at the chamber as an ambassador because I enjoy helping other small business owners get the most out of their chamber membership. I recommend every member to attend as many events as you can if you want to succeed and open new doors.
