I lost my husband of 15 years this month to a car accident. You might think … Donna … TMI, but let me tell you why my tragedy and how the days following this life-changing event are relevant to you and your business. Those who know me are aware that I sit on 5 boards (I have executive positions on 3), run my own Non-Profit organization (MomsHouse), and am District Director for Senator Scott Wilk. Not a lot of time for personal emergencies. When my normal was disrupted and my superwoman cape unceremoniously ripped off … all the systems, training, and autonomy I had in place kicked into action. The organizations and teams I work with and manage stepped up and filled the gap while I started repairs on my cape. Teams, you know who you are: Great Job, and much appreciated. Now to the part where you care. What would happen if something disrupted your life and/or business? Do you have a plan? Are you part of organizations that can support you? Are the people in your organization given autonomy to move in your absence? If not … make it so. Your business should be able to move efficiently with or without you. The new exhibition, The Boulevard: A Journey Through Time in Downtown Lancaster, showcases the photographic journey through the heart of downtown Lancaster from the 1890s through the 1950s. The six iconic photographs are exhibited in the dining room on the first floor of the museum as an homage to the original founding and meeting place of the Lancaster Chamber of Commerce. The Lancaster Chamber of Commerce was founded in the dining hall of the Western Hotel Museum in 1902. Now, in a full circle moment, the Western Hotel Museum features the original photos taken by Chamber of Commerce members and residents. The exhibited photos were originally gifted by the Lancaster Chamber of Commerce to the City of Lancaster with photos taken every decade from the 1890s through the 1950s. The Lancaster Museum of Art and History is dedicated to strengthening awareness, enhancing accessibility, and igniting the appreciation of art, history, and culture in the Antelope Valley through dynamic exhibitions, innovative educational programs, creative community engagement, and a vibrant collection that celebrates the richness of the region.
