About Us
Leon Valley Public Library is an independent library serving the community of Leon Valley, and is not a branch library of any other system. Books, periodicals, audiobooks, interlibrary loans, high speed internet, and many other services are available to our members!
We are a full service library with over 50,000 items in the collection. Card holders may check out up to ten items. Books and audiobooks may be checked out for two weeks. Up to two movie DVDs or videotapes per household may be checked out for one week. If you are going on vacation and would like to take books with you for longer than two weeks, let us know and we may be able to give you more time (unless the item has been requested by another patron).
We are happy to help you find the materials you need. If you can't find it, just ask! Through the Interlibrary Loan Service we can borrow titles not held locally for our users. Simply tell us the title and author of the title you're looking for, and we will try to find it for you!
We hold subscriptions to the San Antonio Express News, The Commercial Recorder, The Wall Street Journal, and over a hundred periodicals. Major investment tools are available for public use, such as: Value Line, Morningstar, Standard and Poor's, Wall Street Journal, and San Antonio Business Journal. We offer Beginning Genealogy and Family History Research Seminars. The Library maintains the Ken and Esther Alley Historical Collection, which contains the Leon Valley and Northwest Bexar County oral histories, documents, photos, maps, and microfilm of news articles, newsletters, and census data.
