LOCAL MERCHANT HELPS LOS ALAMOS SAY “THANKS” (12/31/69)What started as a family project to put a thank you banner into the window of a local business has morphed into a project to help the community at-large express their thanks for all the outstanding work done by firemen and other emergency workers, and to all of the supporters and well-wishers throughout New Mexico. "My daughter Hannah and her friend Kris Kupchella worked on designing a banner for the window of our store," says Don Taylor, owner of Don Taylor's Photography on Central Avenue in downtown Los Alamos. "When I saw what they had done, I liked it so much that I decided to take the initiative to share it with others." Taylor ordered up a large quantity of bumper stickers and has distributed them to other local merchants to be given away to customers. The bumper stickers give community members another way to express their thanks in the wake of the Las Conchas fire that shut down the town and caused a week long evacuation. "It’s wonderful that no one was hurt and that the fire that was threatening us never made it into town," says Taylor. "The firemen and emergency personnel deserve huge thanks. Also, communities and people from throughout New Mexico pitched in with concern, moral support, hospitality and aid. We are thankful for that as well.”

Don has been a professional photogragher since 1978. He has attended many schools including the New England Institute of Professional Photography and the Winona Institute of Professional Photography, and is a graduate of the Hallmark Institute of Professional Photography. Hes is an active member of the Professional Photographers of America, the Professional Photographers Association of New Mexico and the Photo Marketing Association.
