Hours of Operation
The Chapter's trained volunteer Disaster Action Teams respond to emergencies 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
About Us
The Mid-Rio Grande Chapter assists from 150-200 families impacted by disaster each year.
Residence fires account for the majority of disasters in the greater New Mexico area, but the chapter also responds to hazardous materials spills, floods, severe windstorms, SWAT incidents, hailstorms, wild land fires, snowbound stranded motorists, and search and rescue operations.
The Mid-Rio Grande Chapter's Emergency Minor Home Repair Program assists more than 500 or more low to moderate income households within the limits of the City of Albuquerque annually. This grant-funded program's objective is to repair small problems in the home before they escalate into major problems, and to urge homeowners in the program to consider preventative maintenance for their homes.
The Mid-Rio Grande Chapter provides Armed Forces Emergency Communication Services to active-duty members of the military around the world whose families live right here in central New Mexico, and in the last fiscal year provided 1523 individuals with these services. With the ongoing conflict in Iraq, these emergency services now extend to Reservists and Guard members on duty in the middle east.
The Mid-Rio Grande Chapter trained 128,673 people during the period July 1, 2003 to June 30, 2004 in lifesaving skills such as CPR, first aid, aquatic safety and caregiver's training through the Health and Safety Services department.
Our volunteer staff make up the majority of our overall staff. Over 1400 volunteers are supported by 34 paid staff.
The American Red Cross is not a government agency. We are a humanitarian non-profit organization that receives its funding from the generous donations of the American people.
