Longyear gallery was founded in September 2007 as a cooperative venture operated by, and serving the needs of, a group of 25+ regional artists. This concept appears very attractive to the Longyear artist members, who pay monthly dues, govern and tend to the gallery in exchange for the opportunity to show their work in a premium space without paying commissions on sales.
Located upstairs in Margaretville’s historic Commons Building, the Longyear is indeed a “premium” space. Enter through its charming French doors to find a modern, yet warmly inviting, three-chambered gallery complete with top-of-the-line lighting and movable walls.
Naturally, the art adorning this space is of primary importance. And the Longyear roster will not disappoint.
