Willowbrook Memory Support Residence

The new Willowbrook campus will consist of two home-like structures that will provide specialized assisted living dementia care services to 12 residents in each house.; the projected opening date is late 2017 or early 2018. Willowbrook will offer studio style rooms, an activity room, dining room, and various other resident centered common areas including a secured landscaped back yard. Owner Kaye Kibler stated “the setting offers comfortable touches such as a front porch which helps our residents feel at home.”

Willowbrook’s  philosophy is to: Maximize a resident’s  potential and keep activity, socialization and interaction constant throughout the day; and to bring as much of home to the residence as possible . This is their home, and we are all guests. Remove as much change as possible and keep safety at the forefront.

Following the teachings of Maria Montessori, Willowbrook focuses on empowering its residents to take ownership of their day-to-day tasks. They apply her theories of learning and engagement to programming by designing activities to meet the unique needs of each resident. They take the rewarding time to really know the residents and their families; they employ that knowledge to make Willowbrook a true home. From planting gardens to dabbling in art to serving meals, the residents and staff work together as a family should.

Along with in-residence options, Willowbrook offers a variety of services to help improve the quality of life for those living at home with dementia. Starting in January 2016, Willowbrook began offering free, in-home evaluations to enable families to keep their loved ones safe and healthy while at home. Coupled with our Dementia Care and Alzheimer Care communities in Savoy and Effingham, they proudly serve all areas around Champaign, Urbana, St. Joseph, Savoy, Effingham, Altamont, Mattoon, and all parts in between!
