Post Legislative Wrap-Up Lunch - July 22

Hear directly from your legislators about the 2014 session and what is to come at this Post Legislative Wrap-Up Lunch. Presented by The Melbourne Regional Chamber and Business Voice of East Central Florida, Inc., and sponsored by AT&T, the session wrap-up will feature reviews from Senator Thad Altman and Representatives Steve Crisafulli, Tom Goodson, and Rich Workman.

The event will be held Tuesday, July 22 from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm at Suntree Country Club, 1 Country Club Drive, Melbourne. The cost is $25 for Business Voice or Chamber Members pre-paid online by July 18, $30 for members at the door, and $35 for non-members.

The boys of summer are back and ready to bring a championship to Brevard County! Come on out to Space Coast Stadium to catch the sea cows battle the Palm Beach Cardinals while enjoying some quality time with your Melbourne Regional Chamber friends. 

Melbourne Regional Chamber special - $6 for Berm Deck tickets which includes Manatees cap voucher (limited quantities). Thirsty Thursday - $2 select draft beers.

The Women of Excellence Committee
Back to School Charitable Event 
Donations Needed by July 31st


Back to School is an initiative of the Melbourne Regional Chamber Education Foundation and the Women of Excellence Committee to reach-out to disadvantaged and abused teenage girls within the community. The young women participating in the program range in age from 12-18 years and are currently in foster care, local group homes or shelters.

WE are seeking your donations for the program, which provides school supplies, clothing, hair services and fun workshops to promote self-esteem for an average of 40 girls. Huge thanks to our first contributor GAAB (Greek American Assn. of Brevard).

Please bring donations to the Melbourne Regional Chamber by July 31st.

Calling All Boat Captains! 

The Chamber's Veterans Resource Committee is seeking Stick Marsh-faring captains to participate in the upcoming Stick Marsh Veterans Bass Challenge on September 6. Here's the skinny; veterans and municipal leaders will be paired with boat captains for a day on the famous Stick Marsh, competing for the largest bass.

Ribbon Cutting for Wren Insurance, Crest Cleaners & Dunkin Donuts

Tuesday, July 15th - The Melbourne Regional Chamber and the Cocoa Beach Chamber celebrated the grand opening of three member businesses in Viera; Wren Insurance, Crest Cleaners, and Dunkin Donuts. Congratulations to these new businesses located at 5525 Porada Drive, Viera located west of I-95 off of Viera Blvd.

Lockheed Martin Recognizes Craig Technologies as Outstanding Small Business

Craig Technologies was recently recognized for outstanding quality in goods and services by Lockheed Martin at a ceremony in Orlando, Florida.   Each year, the Lockheed Martin businesses nominate and select small companies that have consistently provided outstanding support and products during the past year. Only a few small businesses are recognized for their outstanding quality in goods and services from the thousands of Lockheed Martin suppliers.
   
Since July 2013, Craig Technologies has provided operations and sustainment support to Lockheed Martin under the C-130 ATS contract. Support services include aircrew instruction and maintenance for two C-130 H2/H3 Weapon System Trainers (WST), a Satellite Navigation System (SNS) and a Visual Threat Recognition Avoidance Trainer (VTRAT) at the C-130 Aircrew Training System (ATS) Dobbins site.

2nd Annual Child Hunger Summit Date Set For Oct. 28

Rob Rains, President of United Way and David Cohen, President of the Board of Directors of The Children’s Hunger Project announce the 2nd Annual Child Hunger Summit to be held on Tuesday, October 28.  The event, designed for religious leaders and leaders of faith-based organizations, will be held at the Holiday Inn-Viera and will be jointly sponsored by United Way, Project Hunger, and The Children’s Hunger Project.
 
According to Rob Rains, President of United Way, “The Summit will bring awareness to Brevard County's faith-based leaders of the significant hunger issues local kids are facing and how their congregations can help generate the change necessary to help hungry kids here in our own backyard.”
