Tuesday, October 21


The Women of Excellence monthly meeting will be held at Baer's furniture on Tuesday, October 21st from 8AM - 9:30AM. Come join us for networking and inspiration from two guest speakers: Dr. Stephanie Haridopolos, MD and Dr. Sharon Noori, MD. A light breakfast will be provided by Seniors Helping Seniors.

Tuesday, November 4 - Vendor Tables Available


The Women of Excellence of the Melbourne Regional Chamber of East Central Florida is teaming up with the Titusville, Cocoa Beach & Palm Bay Chambers of Commerce for an exciting Women-Owned Business Expo on November 4th! This event will be held from 5-7 PM at the Space Coast Convention Center located at 301 Tucker Lane, Cocoa, Florida. This is a great opportunity for networking, shopping and showcasing your business.

Hors d'oeuvres will be served and cash bar is available. Sign up for your vendor table now! Vendor tables are $25 each (6ft) and include admission for two people.


General admission is $5.00 for those interested in networking & shopping the various products and services offered by our women-owned businesses within the community.

Are You 'Stuck in the Middle?'

They're called "the Sandwich Generation," those adults who face daily challenges as they care for aging parents while raising their own children. This group routinely juggles work and family responsibilities, often while stressed and shouldering burdens of financial obligations, time management, guilt and self-preservation.  On Thursday, October 16th, One Senior Place in Viera will host "Stuck in the Middle," an event to help individuals in the Sandwich Generation with free information and coping strategies.  The 5:30-7:00 PM event will feature Robbin Adams, Director of Care Services, alongside Kathi Ridner, Director of One Senior Place, as they present real stories of challenges and success at 8085 Spyglass Hill Road in Viera.  Admission is free and refreshments will be served.  Additional information is available on the One Senior Place website at www.OneSeniorPlace.com and an RSVP is requested by calling (321) 751-6771.

Bradley White of GrayRobinson Receives CPA License

Bradley F. White, a senior associate in GrayRobinson’s Melbourne office, has received his license as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). CPAs are qualified accountants who have passed the Uniform Certified Public Accountant Examination and have met additional state education and experience requirements to attain certification as a CPA. In the State of Florida, an applicant for CPA licensure must have at least 150 semester hours of college education, including a baccalaureate or higher degree conferred by an accredited college or university, with a concentration in accounting and business. Additionally, applicants must be able to demonstrate 2,000 hours of work experience and have such experience verified by an actively licensed CPA.

White’s practice areas include Corporate, Taxation, Real Estate, Banking & Finance, Health Care and Regulated Products. He has significant practice experience representing clients involved in complex business transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, dispositions, recapitalizations, reorganizations, investments, and joint ventures. White has extensive experience dealing with a wide variety of business and income tax planning considerations relating to high net worth individuals, C corporations, S corporations, limited liability companies and limited partnerships. He also frequently represents clients before the IRS.

'Swing for Charity' Golf Tournament - October 24

The GFWC Viera Woman's Club is hosting a 'Swing for Charity' golf tournament on October 24th at Duran Golf Club to benefit, among others; the Children's Hunger Project, Canine Companions for Independence/Wounded Warriors Initiative and the Haven for Children.

"NO LABELS" with Guest Speaker Rich Bartholomew 

On Saturday, October 25th, the League of Women Voters of the Space Coast in coordination with the American Association of University Women and the NAACP - Central Brevard Branch will present "NO LABELS" with Guest Speaker Rich Bartholomew.  The Timely Topics Buffet Breakfast will be held at 10 A.M. at the Suntree Country Club.  The cost is $19 and the public is invited.  RSVP to Doreen Archer at 321-622-4071 by Tuesday, October 21st.
 
No Labels is a national movement of Democrats, Republicans and Independents dedicated to a new politics of problem solving that will replace the current culture of conflict and division in our government.  No Labels believes that common ground does exist if our leaders are empowered to find it. 

Child Hunger Summit - October 28

Representatives of United Way, Project Hunger, and The Children's Hunger Project announce the 2nd Annual Child Hunger Summit to be held on Tuesday, October 28 from 9:00AM to 11:00AM.
The event, designed for religious leaders and leaders of faith-based organizations, will be held at the Holiday Inn-Viera and will be jointly sponsored by the three organizations.  The event is with no charge to the religious community.
 
According to Rob Rains, President of United Way, “The Summit will bring awareness to Brevard County's faith-based leaders of the significant hunger issues local kids are facing and how their congregations can help generate the change necessary to help hungry kids here in our own backyard.”
 
Inhibited cognitive development, doing poorly in school and more likelihood of medical problems are just a few of the problems associated with childhood hunger.
