50’s Themed Model Grand Opening Event at Lamplighter Village
Saturday November 7th 10:00am - 4:00pm
 
Beautiful new home models have arrived to Lamplighter Village, a premier 55+ resort manufactured home community in Melbourne, Florida. In celebration of the new homes, the community is hosting a 50’s themed Model Grand Opening Event complete with new home specials, drawings, food, 50’s cars, live music, impersonators and more.  The event is open to the general public, and home models will be open, staged and available to tour. The homes are priced starting from the $90s, and guests who purchase a home during this weekend event will receive $3,000 towards a golf cart.
 
Guests are encouraged to park by the main office and ride the shuttle through the community to the event location. Live music will be provided by Marilyn Monroe and Elvis impersonators, Camille Terry and Leon Wasiak. The duo will also be available for photo opportunities with guests.  Dixie Cruisers, a local car club, will have several members arriving in 50’s cars to line the street for this event, and Executive Catering is dishing out 50’s classics of cotton candy, hot dogs and root beer floats.

EAU GALLIE ARTS DISTRICT’s First Friday on November 6 is going to be a little hairy. Join us for our first FACE-OFF where manly men will compete for best beard and moustache in a variety of contests to be judged by Suzy Leonard of Florida Today, Craig Harriman of Beachside Resident, Donald Atwell, master brewer at Intracoastal Brewing Company and a couple of surprises. Come for the beer, the meat, the music and the judgment. The festivities start in the Eau Gallie Square at 5:30 pm and end at 8:30 pm. Live music in the band shell by VINTAGE the Band. Republican Women host benefit to Honour Veterans and Military
The Brevard Federated Republican Women are sponsoring a dinner honoring our veterans and military on November 7 along with a fundraising auction at the Holiday Inn 8298 N Wickham Road at 6:00 pm. Special tribute and recognition for two area servicemen who gave their lives for our country:  Seal Team 6 member Special Forces Aaron Carson Vaughn who was shot down along with 18 others in the copter after BenGhazi and to 1LT Todd Weaver who lost his life in Kandahar, Afghanistan.

Congressman Ron DeSantis, a  Lt. Commander in the U. S. Navy Reserves, who served as a JAG officer in Cuba is  the keynote speaker. Sheriff Wayne Ivey will be the auctioneer to help raise funds to be distributed to veterans organizations throughout Brevard. Some of the auction items include dinner with Tax Collector Lisa Cullen; lunch with Property Appraiser Dana Blickley, dinner with State Attorney Phil Archer and dinner with Public Defender Blaise Trettis and many other items.

Brevard Zoo offers free admission to military and veterans
On Veterans Day (Wednesday, November 11), Brevard Zoo will offer free admission to military veterans and active-duty service members. In the event a service member is deployed overseas, the Zoo will admit their spouse at no charge.

Proof of military service is required to claim offer. Accepted methods of identification include a United States Uniformed Services Privilege and Identification Card (active/reserve/retired), current Leave and Earnings Statement, DD 214, veteran ID, or photograph in uniform. Guests wearing a military uniform will also be admitted at no charge.

While at the Zoo, guests will have the chance to explore Washed Ashore, a temporary art installation opening on November 8. The exhibit is included with Zoo admission and features 10 sculptures of aquatic animals, all crafted from marine debris. Brevard Schools Foundation is getting ready to run an online auction fundraiser...Bids For Kids "Holiday Edition"
Starting on November 2, 2015, Brevard Schools Foundation will be auctioning off a number of fun and unique items to bid on to raise money in support of Brevard Public Schools - just in time for your holiday cyber shopping!  Show your support while winning great items for yourself or anyone on your gift list.
 
The opportunity to impact the future of our children begins with the actions we take today. Now's the time to donate an item in support of education!  The foundation will continue to add items as it receives them, right up until the end of the auction. Whether you have 1 item or 100 to contribute, your participation is an invaluable part of fundraising efforts. By donating an item or service directly online, you'll be helping to raise money for the organization, and you'll receive a mention on their site that can link back to your own web page.
