Treetop Trek sets early open hours for summer
Thrill-seekers craving a reprieve from the looming heat and humidity can get an early start at Treetop Trek this summer. The nature-based attraction will open at 8 a.m. (an hour before the usual open time) daily from Sunday, May 29 to Monday, September 5.
“Outdoor fun doesn’t have to stop in the summer,” said Nancy Wright, attractions manager for the Zoo. “Getting on a course earlier means you can avoid the extreme heat and afternoon thunderstorms we typically see in Florida.”

Sanctuary Island, Inc. Presents Check For Wounded Veterans Horse Back Riding Lessons
Indialantic, Florida based nonprofit Sanctuary Island, Inc. recently presented a check for $700 to Walk On Water Therapeutic Horseback Riding Program on Merritt Island. This donation will fund wounded combat veterans with beginner level lessons and other activities that can assist them in their needs to readjust to living a civil life.

“Interacting with horses builds trust,” said author Marc O’Brien who penned the self-published work A Special Person To Ride, available through Amazon. Sanctuary Island, Inc.’s Co Founder, O’Brien said, “This recreational activity can bring a person back to being civil instead of a warrior.”

Author Marc O’Brien, who has penned numerous fictional works about this unique recreational activity, knows from personal experience the positive results that happen when an individual communicates with a horse.

“When on a horse riding, ones disability disappears,” said O’Brien, who co-founded Sanctuary Island with his Mother. “During my youth, disabled riding programs were my extracurricular activity giving me a foundation,” he said during the event while signing copies of A Special Person To Ride.

Whittaker Cooper Financial Group Not Clowning Around
Brevard firm participates in 'Red Nose Day,' helps raise awareness, funds for child poverty

Have you heard of Red Nose Day?  The folks at Whittaker Cooper Financial Group in West Melbourne have.  Chances are, you've seen the display of red clown noses at the Walgreen's checkout counter and wondered what it was all about.  It turns out that Red Nose Day on May 26 is a campaign designed to call attention to child poverty-- locally, nationally and worldwide.  A  prime time live comedy special on NBC at 9 PM EST on May 26 benefited a host of charities that assist children in need.

The staff of Whittaker Cooper Financial Group donned their red noses recently to do their part and remind others to do the same.  The company has donated to the Red Nose project online and is partnering locally with a charity that combats one very real symptom of child poverty in Brevard-- hunger.   The "official" red noses are available only inside Walgreens brick and mortar locations for $1 each.  For every nose they sell, Walgreens will donate 50 cents to the Red Nose project. For more information, call 321-723-3352 or visit http://raymondjames.com/whittakercooper/.
