Brevard Schools Foundation to Give Away Free Backpacks and School Supplies
The Brevard Schools Foundation will host its 14th Annual Back to School Giveaway Event to benefit local students in need on July 30 at Clearlake Education Center.  Over 2,000 students on the Free and Reduced Lunch program will receive backpacks filled with school supplies.  Backpacks are packed and distributed by a team of more than 100 volunteers, and a hot lunch will be provided to the students receiving supplies.  Attendees must have pre-registered for the event to be eligible.

J.D. Power ranks FPL highest in residential customer satisfaction in the southern U.S.
Announcement marks FPL’s highest-ever score and its first top award by prestigious study
Florida Power & Light Company (FPL) received the top ranking for residential customer satisfaction among large electric providers in the southern U.S., according to the J.D. Power 2016 Electric Utility Residential Customer Satisfaction StudySM released today. FPL also ranked second-highest in the nation among all large electric providers.

J.D. Power’s annual study measures electric utilities based on surveys of their customers. FPL’s 2016 score is its highest the company has achieved in the study’s 18 years.

Business Voice Political Committee Announces Endorsement of Micah Loyd for Canaveral Port Authority, District 2
Business Voice Political Committee Board of Directors voted this month to support Micah Loyd in his bid to serve as District 2 representative on the Canaveral Port Authority, District 2.

“Port Canaveral is the economic engine that drives much of our local economy,” states the organization’s Chairman, Larry McIntyre.  “Micah’s experience in the private sector will make him a strong advocate for the many local businesses who work at and with the Port.  His acumen in construction management will be an asset to the Commission, to ensure smart development and a strong fiscal position going forward.”
