On May 17th, the Economic Development Commission of Florida’s Space Coast (EDC) will host its 4th Annual Made in Brevard Expo.  You are encouraged to attend and to invite your staff, family, friends and neighbors out to browse and to learn more about just a few of the more than 500 manufacturers here in Brevard.

Sunset Moonlight & Music Event Raises $90,000 for the Supply Zone for Teachers

Brevard Schools Foundation hosted its annual Sunset Moonlight & Music Fundraiser, “Midnight in Mumbai”, on April 28, 2017, and is pleased to announce that $90,000 was raised. 100% of the event proceeds benefit the Supply Zone for Teachers, a resource center that provides Brevard’s most vulnerable children the school supplies they need to succeed in school.

The event transformed Ambika and Ravi Palaniyandi’s beautiful ocean front estate into an enchanting and whimsical representation of Midnight in Mumbai, where guests enjoyed cocktails and live entertainment in the form of Bollywood Dancing from Galmont Ballet and Orlando Bellydance. In addition to the native music of India, guests were treated to a dazzling display of authentic Indian cuisine courtesy of Taste of India, a variety of American fares by Bayside High School’s Culinary Program, a wine pull, silent auction, and live dueling auction that featured school board member Andy Ziegler and News 13’s own Greg Pallone.

Zoo exhibit featuring kangaroos, Komodo dragons nears opening

Construction crews are hard at work as Lands of Change: Australia and Beyond—the successor to Brevard Zoo’s beloved Australasia exhibit—inches closer to its debut on Saturday, May 27.

“With the exception of a couple of habitats, everything has changed,” said executive director Keith Winsten. “The aviaries are brand new, the kangaroo yard has been completely redesigned and most of the behind-the-scenes areas are totally different.”

An emphasis is placed on animal interaction; guests will have the opportunity to feed lorikeets and cockatiels in two free-flight aviaries, stand eye to eye with kangaroos in a walk-through habitat and watch training sessions in a 100-seat amphitheater.

This project is sponsored in part by the Department of State, Division of Cultural Affairs, the Florida Council of Arts and Culture and the State of Florida. Additional support comes from Ron and Lynne DiMenna, the Kirschenbaum family and the Swann family.

The Chandlery is now The Chandlery: Serendipity Gifts

New owners Hans and Moon bought The Chandlery in February 2017. Hailing to the Space Coast from San Diego, California, Hans and Moon thought Melbourne was the best place to raise their family and start a business. Since taking over the store, which has been in business since 1994, they have made many improvements, Including updating the inventory to cater to the male demographic, rearranging products to maximize space and revenue, and featuring some long forgotten pieces.

They are constantly working to better the storefront window, to please passers by, and are always looking for new, unique products to sell. Along with their employees, Elizabeth and Brian, they are here to serve you and meet all of your candle and home décor needs. If you have any questions, or products you would like to see in the store, please feel free to stop by 806 E. New Haven Ave. or call the store 321-726-0192.
