Axiom Bank, N.A. acquires Allied Affiliated Funding, L.P.

Axiom Bank, N.A. (“Axiom”), a leading community bank headquartered in Central Florida, recently acquired Dallas-based Allied Affiliated Funding, L.P. (“Allied”). This acquisition adds a lender finance line of business, scalable factoring and an asset-based lending platform to Axiom. In addition, bringing together two companies with complementary strengths and cultures will provide a platform to extend Axiom’s business banking solutions across a larger market area.

The acquisition will also bring expanded product capabilities to each entity’s clients. Tiny trees returning to Brevard Zoo

The ancient Japanese art of bonsai is returning to Brevard Zoo. Bonsai Weekend, organized by the Bonsai Society of Brevard, is slated to run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on August 11 and 12 in the Zoo’s Nyami Nyami River Lodge.

The event, which is included with Zoo admission, will feature more than 50 miniature trees, vendors selling bonsai plants and accessories, and a bonsai care demonstration at 1 p.m. on both days.

A workshop for children ages 10–17 is scheduled for 1 to 3 p.m. on August 11. A $35 registration fee, which includes a tree to take home, is required; registration is open at https://www.brevardzoo.org/events/bonsai-weekend/.

Local high school student on a mission to help other kids excel in school


Siddarth Ranganath, better known to fellow students as “Sid” is not your typical teenager.  This rising junior at Viera High School is a problem solver, and passionate about finding ways to help other kids excel in school.

This summer, Sid decided he wanted to raise money to provide school supplies for children in Brevard County who may not have access to them otherwise. He had an ambitious goal and ended up raising $1,500 and collected four boxes of physical supplies and presented both to The Supply Zone, a service of Brevard Schools Foundation which puts school supplies directly into the hands of children in need.
