JCGA and Jefferson College to Host Candidate Forums Sept 25 and Oct 7
As a public service, Jefferson College and the Jefferson County Growth Association will host a series of upcoming candidate forums involving county, state, and national races. The public events will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, September 25, and Tuesday, October 7, in the Arts and Sciences I, Room 119, on the college's Hillsboro campus.
Candidates for county offices (county executive, county council, county clerk, auditor, collector of revenue, recorder of deeds, and prosecuting attorney) will be the focus on September 25. State and federal office candidates (state auditor, U.S. representative, state senator, state representative, circuit judge, associate circuit judge, and circuit clerk) will be highlighted on October 7.
In light of the significant number of races in the November General Election, the forums are designed to allow candidates to present their respective viewpoints to the community. All Democratic and Republican candidates have been invited to participate. County candidates will have five minutes each to discuss what they will do for the County and the community; state and national candidates will be given up to seven minutes each to speak.
While no questions will be taken during the event, candidates for both contested and uncontested races have been asked to stay after the forum to talk with audience members.
Both candidate forums will be broadcast live on KJFF radio (AM 1400) and streamed via the Jefferson College website (www.jeffco.edu), and rebroadcast on JCTV and Vimeo.
