JUST A SPARK AWAY

Community-wide fundraiser for fire victims in Weed, CA.  Please drop off donations at the
Mt Lassen Theatre next to Chester Park Thursday, September 25 between 11:00-6:00.  Donations will be delivered by our youth organizations to Hope Community Church in Mt Shasta.
WHAT WE NEED
Duffel bags, suitcases, boxes; Non-perishable food items; Diapers; Depends; Personal hygiene items; Baby formula; Towels and blankets; Tooth brushes and paste; Shampoo and soap; Hair brushes and combs; Pet food, litter, and carriers; Paper towels and tissue; Small stuffed animals and toys for little ones; Laundry soap; Cash or $25 gift cards for: Walmart, Ray's grocery store, Shell, Texaco, Pilot, and Chevron gas stations.
PLEASE NO CLOTHING OR HOUSEHOLD ITEMS

UCCE Master Gardener Training

13 week training, Fridays, September 5th - December 5th

During this 13 week workshop local volunteers will be trained by UC experts and local professionals in advanced plant science and sustainable gardening practices that are applicable to local conditions. Upon completion of the training, volunteers share their newly acquired knowledge with the community through the media, talks and workshops.  

Residents of Plumas & Sierra Counties are encouraged to apply.  Prior horticulture experience is encouraged but not required.  We are seeking applicants with a strong volunteer ethic and a desire to make a long-term commitment to the program and their community.

5th Annual Art and Wine of Lassen

5th Annual Art & Wine of Lassen
Commemorates Wilderness Act

The 50th anniversary of the Wilderness Act will be commemorated at the fifth annual Art & Wine of Lassen event to occur at Lassen Volcanic National Park on Sept. 27 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Art & Wine of Lassen brings together local artists, musicians and wineries at the Kohm Yah-mah-nee Visitor Center where art exhibits, music and wine tasting will occur.  Participation in the tasting is available with purchase of a commemorative glass for $7.

Performing will be musicians Allison Scull, Victor Martin and Stefan Schittko, who blend elements of folk, jazz, blues European and Latin music. Martin Tschanett, an Austrian magician and balloon artist, will provide additional entertainment.

Wineries from the Manton and Shingletown areas, two local craft brewers, a coffee maker, local jam makers, olive producers and farmers will sample and market their products. As well, painters, photographers, jewelers and other area crafts persons will showcase their artistry.

Overflow parking for the popular event will be available at Morgan Summit on Highway 36E with a free shuttle to the visitor center. More information is found at www.lassenrecreation.com.

IVCC Leaf Peepers Century Rides

A Beautiful ride through the Indian Valley, Taylorsville, CA. and on to Genesee for lunch and then back to Greenville, or for the long haulers, up to Antelope Lake, around the lake, and then back down the hill to Genesee for lunch, and then back around the valley to Greenville. The Beauty of the Fall rides is the Wonderful changing of the leaves, especially up at Antelope Lake. This is the Fourth Annual Leaf Peepers Rides and the weather has been just Lovely each year.
