28th Street Rod Extravaganza

Event is open to any year car, truck, or motorcycle.  
Friday 5pm--Registration at the Lake Almanor Elks Lodge (164 Main Street Chester, CA), Cruise downtown Chester, and no host dinner at the Lake Almanor Elks Lodge.
Saturday 7am--Gates open, 9am show starts, 10am judging begins followed by poker run and poker walk.
AWARDS: Best of Show, People's Choice, Merchant Awards, Longest Distance traveled chosen by Lake Almanor Street Rodders (must be driven).

Yappy Hour

This event benifits the High Sierra animal Rescue. Bring you pets down for socializing and the owners too. There will be goodies and drinks for donation only.

UCCE Master Gardener Training

13 week training, Fridays, September 5th - December 5th

During this 13 week workshop local volunteers will be trained by UC experts and local professionals in advanced plant science and sustainable gardening practices that are applicable to local conditions. Upon completion of the training, volunteers share their newly acquired knowledge with the community through the media, talks and workshops.  

Residents of Plumas & Sierra Counties are encouraged to apply.  Prior horticulture experience is encouraged but not required.  We are seeking applicants with a strong volunteer ethic and a desire to make a long-term commitment to the program and their community.

Sustainable Forest Management

We start this tour at the Collins Pine Company Museum in Chester. After a tour of their facilities, we'll head out to their forests to learn about how this company manages their forests. Learn how their techniques slow wildfires. We'll also see trees over 400-years old.
