| 06/23/13 | CicLAvia Feeder Ride from Leimert Park CicLAvia - the event which opens Los Angeles streets to biking, walking, jogging, and dogwalking - returns for the second route of 2013 on Sunday, June 23rd. The route, "Iconic Wilshire Boulevard," will stretch for 6 miles from 9am to 4pm along Wilshire, connecting Downtown, Macarthur Park, Koreatown, and Mid-Wilshire. Over 150,000 Angelenos participated in the last CicLAvia on Venice Blvd. "Iconic Wilshire Boulevard" on 6/23 promises to be the most walkable CicLAvia yet, with pedestrian-only zones at each end of the route in Downtown and in front of LACMA in Miracle Mile. Ride South L.A. is hosting a "feeder" ride to help get people to CicLAvia. The group ride will provide safety and numbers for novice riders, families, and experienced riders alike. | 06/25/13 | Community Workshop The Los Angeles Department of City Planning is developing a Streetscape plan for Crenshaw Boulevard from Adams Boulevard, to the north to 79th street, the City boundary. The Purpose of the Streetscape Plan is to provide a blueprint for future streetscape enhancements that will make the corridor more pedestrian friendly and connect five future transit stations. The Plan will include concepts for street trees, street furniture, crosswalks and other features that will improve the quality of the street and reinforce Crenshaw's unique character. A primary goal of the workshops is to provide local residents, business/property owner and employees an opportunity to voice preferences for strategies that will improve pedestrian and bicycle circulation on the Crenshaw corridor. more info... |
