Firecracker 5K in Festina

The race will being at Neal's Auto Body. The race will run on city streets and on County Road B32, before winding up back at the race start point. 
Prizes will be given to the top male and female finishers and to children 12 and under. Tank tops will also be given, but are guaranteed only for advanced registrants. 
Following the run/walk, stay in town to watch the annual Fourth of July parade, beginning at 11 a.m.

See the selection the Fair Queen and Princess on Thursday at 4 p.m.

Take a seat in the Grandstand to watch some great entertainment. The grandstand attractions included the Bill RileyTalent Show and music. On Tuesday will be racing with Upper Iowa Speedway. Saturday night we will finish up the grandstand with Bull/Barrels.

Bid on a Box Social Lunches offered by representatives from several local organizations. The winning bidder shares their lunch with guests and profits go toward fairground improvements.

Enter the Hobby/Shop Contest, baking contests,educational presentations, musical groups, and plenty of good food and fun. Here is the Decorah Newspaper supplement with all of the information about contests, events, and schedules.

Kids, participate in a kids' show, or compete in a contest like the Pedal Power Contest (Wednesday at noon), or just enjoying the carnival rides on the midway.

What a great place to be in July!!! We have a great family fair because of all the amazing volunteers. From the parents and grandparents being involved with their kids' projects to all of the people who make the fair run--especially all of the great sponsors.

Worship is at 10 a.m. Attendees are invited to bring lawn chairs.

Gnomes on the Trail, a free scavenger hunt for ages, has returned for Nordic Fest 2016.
Ten mischievous gnomes are hiding all along the Trout Run Trail and Freeport Trail, enjoying the scenery and spying on the passing bikes and walkers. Participants see how many they can find while exploring some of the highlights of the area's most popular and newest paved tails.

Parkinson Support Group Meets

Our next Parkinson Support Group meeting will be at 1:30PM  on Wednesday, July 27th at the Winneshiek Medical Center in Conference Room B1. We will have a presentation from Shanna Hamilton from Easter Seals of Iowa. She will present three programs that they offer to those afflicted with mobility problems. These include a Durable medical Equipment Program which offers very affordable lending of wheelchairs, walkers, bath tub equipment and more.

Nordic Fest

Since 1967, over 1 1/2 million visitors from all over the world have attended our festival in Decorah, IA!

Summer Art Fair

ArtHaus, downtown Decorah’s home for the visual, performing, and literary arts, will host it's annual Summer Art Fair on Friday, July 29 and Saturday, July 30 during the 50th anniversary celebration of Nordic Fest. 

Featured artists include Karen Misseldine (pottery), Jeanine Scheffert (prints and paintings), Joyce Meyer (photography), Bonnie Koloc (fibers and mixed media works), Emily Larson (drawings and cards) and Jenni & Eric Petersen-Brant (ceramics and jewelry). New ArtHaus merchandise including t-shirts and notecards featuring student work will also be for sale.

The Art Fair is open 10am-5pm on Friday and 1-6pm on Saturday, immediately following the Nordic Fest parade. Admission to the fair is free; cash or check is accepted by all vendors, with most taking major credit cards for purchases.

Anthony Gomes at Nordic Fest

The Toronto singer/songwriter/guitarist, Anthony Gomes, has been creating virtuosic, burning blues since his recorded debut in 1998. 12 releases and numerous awards and ecstatic accolades later, the aptly-named, riff-laden Electric Field Holler crackles with his bare wires passion.

Gomes will perform southern rock, blues rock and blues during his concert at the main stage of Nordic Fest - Canopy 5.

Dragonfly Books hosts a book signing with author J. Belle Ortega and her new novel Play It Again, Frank. Ortega will sign copies of her book on Saturday, July 30th between 1:30 - 3:00 pm at Dragonfly Books. Raised on a dairy farm near Decorah, Iowa, J. Belle Ortega now lives in Atlanta, Georgia.
