Holiday Themed Glass Bloc Mosaics

In this two-day workshop we will be working on a fun project using special materials to create a holiday theme glass on Glass Bloc. These Blocs can be used as a vase centerpiece or be lit from within for a beautiful stained glass effect. The process will be explained at the beginning of class with a brief power point as well as a handout for later reference. In addition, we will explore a few advanced mosaic techniques, materials and ideas.
You are asked to bring a simple idea/design, consisting of (2) designs approximately 8×8 inches. These “cartoons” should be simple, like you would find in a child’s coloring book. There will be several options available the day of class.

Note: Class size is limited to 10. Please bring your (2) designs, approximately 8×8 inches, an open mind and a BIG smile! Warning: Mosaic Art may be addictive; your life will not be the same!

Microgrids & Cybersecurity at the Community Level

This virtual presentation, "Microgrids, Storage, and Cybersecurity at the Community Level," will feature Matthew Backes, Research Engineer at Lincoln Lab, MIT.

The presentation is part of a Decorah Power Learning Series designed to investigate the opportunities and challenges involved in a Decorah municipal electric utility—a locally owned, city utility that would provide electricity services in the same way it provides water and sewer services. With the support of the City Council, local citizens group Decorah Power is conducting a feasibility study with privately-raised funds. The study is expected to be completed before the end of the year. For more information about Decorah Power see www.decorahpower.org
