| 05/25/13 -09/02/13 | Visit Agate Fossil Beds Memorial Day Weekend starts the Summer Season at Agate Fossil Beds located just 22 miles south of Harrison, NE or 34 miles north of Mitchell, NE on Hwy 29, then 3 miles east on River Road. Their summer hours are from 9 am to 5 pm every day starting May 25th. From May 24 - 27, Carol Snow will be working in the visitor center. Snow realizes that the hands-on experience is a great way to teach people about her art. Using thin strips of metal and simple patterns, interested visitors are encouraged to hand-emboss a bookmark during their visit. A certified tribal artisan representing the Seneca Nation of Indians, Snow's current techniques include hand-embossed metals (especially copper), assemblages, and mixed media paintings. | 05/29/13 | "Fossil Discoveries on the Kimball North Project" Lecture Everyone in the Community is invited to a 1 hour lecture by Shane Tucker, UNL Paleontologist, on the 30 fossil species discovered just north of Kimball. He will have a question and answer period at the end of the lecture that will take place at the Kimball Public Library, 208 S. Walnut, starting at 7:00 pm. | 06/01/13 | BRAN Starting Point On Saturday, June 1, there will be over 400 bicycle enthusiasts and riders gathering in Kimball to start their 2013 Bicycle Ride Across Nebraska. This year they will be traveling on the Historic Lincoln Highway (Highway 30) to celebrate the Lincoln Highway's 100th Anniversary.
