Dorothy Hoard leads this hike to a natural spring where water flows out of the ground and the Veronica, a plant which grows in water, is blooming. Round trip distance under 1.5 miles and a fairly level dirt road, with options to extend. Hoard will share the history of the area. Meet at PEEC at 9:00 or at the trailhead at the intersection of State Road 4 and Forest Road 181 at 9:30. Free, no registration required.

Vacation Bible School/Day Camp

Vacation Bible School for ages 3 through 4th grade, happening every morning from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm at Trinity on the Hill Episcopal Church. Make new friends, do amazing science experiments, play wild games, learn incredible music, and have lip-smacking snacks. Day Camp is also available for children entering 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grades. It runs from 8:30 am to 3:00 pm, also at Trinity on the Hill. Run in conjunction with Bethlehem Lutheran Church.

Fly Tying Class with Bill Orr

Join Bill Orr, author of Fly Patterns of Northern New Mexico for this three-session workshop. Participants will make a minimum of six patterns that work well in New Mexico: Warden's Worry, Dennis Rodman, Elk Hair Caddis, Bead Head Prince, CDC Blue Wing Olive and Clouser Minnow, with more made if time allows. Class will meet Wednesdays July 11, 18 and 25 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Bill Orr has been tying flies for 40 years, both privately and professinally. $75/$60 members. All materials and supplies provided. Pie in the Sky Fundraising Supper

Pie in the Sky Fundraising Dinner! Thursday, July 12, 5:30 - 7pm in Kelly Hall at Trinity on the Hill Church. In conjunction with the Vacation Bible school theme "The Sky's the Limit - Everything is Possible with God," the House of Hope Women invite you to a Pie in the Sky fundraiser for House of Hope and Trinity Builders mission trips to Juarez. Feast on chicken pot pie or vegetable pot pie along with salad and ice cream, while placing bids in a silent auction for a dessert pie to take home. Invite your friends and neighbors to join you in Kelly Hall! The whole community is welcome. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children. Children attending VBS that week get a free dinner if they are accompanied by a paying adult. Tickets available at the door.

For this crochet-along, we will be working on the "Long Skirt" pattern found in the 2012 edition of Vogue Crochet Magazine (we do have some for purchase at the shop). This pattern is perfect for a beginner hoping to move on to the next level. The top of the skirt is worked in single crochet, and the bottom part is an openwork double crochet. We have a variety of yarns that would work well for the pattern, and we're happy to help you pick one that works for you.

Summer Family Evenings: Star Party

Join PEEC for a late-night Summer Family Evening to look at the moon and stars through PEEC's telescope. The summer sky is full of wonderful sights since the Milky Way and center of galaxy are visible. We will concentrate on diffuse nebulae (star nurseries) and star clusters (both open and globular--the oldest objects in the universe!) as well as what are called planetary nebulae. We will also have fine views of the Moon midway between thin crescent and first quarter, and Saturn with its rings and moons. PEEC will have telescopes set up outside our building starting around 8:15. Free.

Missoula Children’s Theater :Casting Call

Over fifty roles will be cast for students entering 1st – 12th grades. Parent/guardian must be with each child when registering in order to sign the permission form. Joe Hayes: New Mexico's Centennial Storyteller

While Joe Hayes, an official Centennial author, doesn't have a specific centennial program, he will tell a selection of favorite stories gleaned from New Mexico's diverse cultures. He has been traveling the state with his stories for more than 30 0f the 100 years of statehood, so he promises to share stories that people seem to have especially enjoyed. Among his most popular titles, in both Spanish and English, is The Day it Snowed Tortillas. The event will take place outdoors at Fuller Lodge lawn, weather permitting, or inside if not. Families are encouraged to come and enjoy a picnic along with some great tall tales!
