Spring Art Show

Lake County's Art Students have been working hard all year to put together a collection of fabulous art.  Come admire their creativity, grab a great deal on a silent auction item, get your face painted and help raise money for our local art students. Loads of kid friendly activities including face painting, paint your own "We love Leadville" sign, make some play-doh, plant a flower and so much more!

Fish Hatchey 5K

located at the historic Leadville National Fish Hatchery, the Fish Hatchery 5K features a scenic cross country style course that winds through subalpine forest near and around the Evergreen Lakes and lower Rock Creek area. The route consists of dirt road, path and trail.

 

 
Race-day registration: 7:00 - 8:00 a.m. in front of main hatchery building .

Awards will be given to the top male and female finishers in each of the following age groups: 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+. Awards will be given to the top three male and female finishers in the 12 and under age group. Stick around for the post-race raffle.

The Turquoise Lake Half Marathon

The Turquoise Lake Half Marathon offers unparalleled mountain views as you run clockwise around scenic Turquoise Lake. The first 7.5 miles of the course consists of hilly paved road. The final 5.5 miles consist of single track dirt trail.

Wildflower Train Ride Special

The Wild Flower Special train rides will be: July 21st at 10:00 am July 28th at 10:00 am and August 4th at 10:00 am. horizontal-stitching-500px-wide   See the alpine flowers at their peak, splashing the mountain world with vibrant color! Join our experienced tour guides for a 20 minute hike through pine forests, aspen groves and open meadows. View a multitude of varieties of wildflowers at the water tower. Some flowers sighted include Indian Paintbrush, Lupine and wild strawberries. You may find anything from our "local" deer to a mushroom in a wet marsh. Remember hiking shoes, a water bottle and camera. The train ride will depart at 10:00 am and arrive back at the depot at 1:00 pm. This hike is for people of all capabilities and interests please call for more information (1-866-386-3936).   After the railroad wildflower tour, enjoy a catered box lunch  on the lawn at the Healy House Museum where you will also have time to enjoy a stroll through our heritage gardens. The gazebo frames the view of Colorado’s highest mountains, Mount Elbert and Mount Massive. The lawn is a good place to view Harrison Avenue and you can see why August Meyer chose the “capital hill” area for his home. Leadville Boom Days

Leadville Boom Days is a Colorado Mountain Festival and historical celebration of the Old West, with gunslingers, burro races, contests of mining skill, and a street fair with over 100 food and craft booths. It is always the first full weekend in August. In 2018 it will run August 3rd through the 5th. Come join us for three days of fun, food, arts and crafts, and activities for the whole family!
