'A Brush with Victory' Exhibit

PHOENIX INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY’S ‘A BRUSH WITH VICTORY’ COMING TO WEST VALLEY ARTS HQ
One-Of-A-Kind Bill Patterson Gatorade Victory Lane Paintings Will Be On Display Sept. 29-Nov. 11

PHOENIX – Phoenix International Raceway‘s unique collection of paintings by acclaimed artist Bill Patterson will be on display at the West Valley Arts HQ as part of the track’s 50th Anniversary season. ‘A Brush With Victory’ will open Sept. 29 and features 31 of Patterson’s paintings depicting some of the most memorable moments at the famed one-mile oval.

At each NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at PIR, Patterson paints the finish of the race live in Gatorade Victory Lane, capturing the scene on canvas in time for the winning driver to sign the painting shortly after he emerges from his race car.

“We are excited to partner with the West Valley Arts Council and display this collection for the public at their Arts HQ gallery,” said PIR President Bryan R. Sperber. “Our 50th Anniversary is an opportunity to celebrate the great moments in PIR history, and Bill’s paintings do a great job of bringing those moments to life.”

To commemorate PIR’s Golden Anniversary fans can celebrate the historic moments captured in Patterson’s paintings, such as Alan Kulwicki’s 1988 win in the inaugural NASCAR Winston Cup Series race at PIR or Jeff Gordon’s 76th NASCAR Sprint Cup Series win, tying him with the legendary Dale Earnhardt. Some of the biggest and brightest stars in motorsport history have turned a lap at PIR over the last 50 years, and Patterson brings those moments to life through art.

“This unique partnership will bring much exposure and new audiences to the Arts HQ and show a more colorful and creative side to PIR,” said WVAC Executive Director Bernadette Mills. “We are thrilled to showcase these action paintings by Bill Patterson that capture colorful moments in local history at Phoenix International Raceway.”

West Valley Arts HQ consists of 2,500 square feet of gallery space - plus an outdoor courtyard - connected by a covered breezeway. These flexible spaces allow for a multitude of arts and cultural events, and can be adapted to meet various visual and performance requirements.

The West Valley Arts HQ is located at 16126 N. Civic Center Plaza, Surprise hours are Tuesday – Thursday: 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Friday, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

About Phoenix International Raceway:
Since 1964, Phoenix International Raceway has been the premier motorsports venue in the Southwest. Host to some of the most notable moments in motorsports history, PIR will celebrate its 50th Anniversary throughout the entire 2014 season. As the only track in the West to have two NASCAR Sprint Cup Series weekends a year, PIR will help kick off the 2014 NASCAR season with its traditional March date and round out the year with the semifinal race for the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup in November. Tickets are available by visiting PhoenixRaceway.com or calling 866-408-RACE (7223).

You're Fired! The Do's and Don'ts of Termination

You're Fired!

Terminating employees for cause is straight forward. But how do you gracefully exit employees who are a bad fit? You know the ones, their negativity impacts the entire office, alienates customers and prevents great work from getting done!

We will work through a case study of a difficult employee situation, how to document behavior so that the behavior changes or a documented plan to exit the employee from your company without being sued or charges filed with the EEOC.

You will leave with the tools to implement this change for your company!

Star Wars Day For Smiletrain.org

Surprise Dental & Denture is hosting a Star Wars Day charity event for Smiletrain.org. The event will be held October 24th, 2014 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at 13933 W. Grand Ave #302 Surprise, Az 85374. There will be food, carnival games, Bingo and more. Dream Dealers is providing a Black Jack table with "Princess Lea" as the dealer. Expect an appearance from the 501st Dune Garrison. The 501st are "Stormtroopers for charity."

Smile Train provides free surgery for children around the world born with cleft palate.

Children born with cleft cannot eat or speak properly, aren't allowed to attend school or hold a job and face very difficult lives of shame and isolation, pain and heartache. Some children are even abandoned—all because of the way they look. Their clefts usually go untreated because they are too poor to afford the simple repair surgery that takes as little as 45 minutes and costs as little as $250 dollars.

As a result of the support of donors and partners around the world, Smile Train has transformed the lives of more than one million children by giving them the power of a smile -- that's roughly 350 surgeries a day and 128,000+ every year.

Smile Trains goal, is to be the most well-managed and cost-efficient charity in the world with 83.8% funds going directly to program serves. With a very small staff of just 78 people worldwide, 14.5% funds forfundraising and only 1.7% for management and overhead, Smile train is well on its way.

Join Surprise Dental & Denture for Star Wars Day to support Smile Train.
