Come and celebrate Cinco de Mayo by playing golf for a great cause!
 
On May 5th, “Wings of Eagles” will be hosting their First Annual Golf Tournament. Throughout the day, there will be 12 holes of golf played, food and drinks served at each hole, as well as a raffle and silent auction.
 
“Wings of Eagles” The Joseph Alvarez Organization for Seriously Ill Children is an all-denominational, nonprofit public benefit corporation that is based out of Chico, California. Since “Wings of Eagles” was established in June of 1993, we have been dedicated to helping families with seriously ill children. Since then, “Wings of Eagles” has raised over $1,000,000 through fundraising events to help families all over the Northern California region.
 
“Wings of Eagles” is ran 100% by volunteers, with minimal administrative costs, which means that all funds raised directly benefit families with seriously ill children. By simply playing golf, you will be helping us relieve financial and emotional burdens for families who are going through a very difficult time in their lives.

Oroville Airport Day 2016

The Experimental Aircraft Association “EAA” Oroville Chapter 1112  presents a funfilled day of antique, modern, unique, aircraft, helicopters, Cal Fire tankers, Enloe FlightCare helicopter, Butte County Sheriff's aerial and Marine units, custom cars, Hot Air balloon, motorcycles, radio controlled aircraft, vendors of all types, Pancake breakfast 8am, Lunch available 11am. Many more surprises on the day of the even! You won't be disappointed!!
This is a funfilled day for the whole family!

The highlight of this event is the Young Eagles program where kids 8-17 ride in real aiplanes around the skies of Oroville. Last year we gave over 160 local kids rides!! Get there early as registration runs 8am-11am... Kids must be registered prior to the 11am cutoff time!

St. Thomas the Apostle Blood Drive

Orland, CA – Join St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church on Sunday, May 15th  to help patients like Kinsley McCullough.  When Kinsley was less than a year-old, she was diagnosed with Diamond Blackfan Anemia, a rare blood disorder that is characterized by a failure of the bone marrow to produce red blood cells. Kinsley will need to receive blood transfusions for the rest of her life. Donors are also encouraged to join the national Be The Match bone marrow registry to help patients with blood disorders such as Diamond Blackfan Anemia, leukemia and cancer.

Kiwanis 19th Annual Hooked on Fishing..Not on Drugs

Oroville Kiwanis Club sponsors this fishing derby for kids 12 and under. This is a great way of teaching children all about fishing and the fun of being outdoors and enjoying what nature has to offer. Many Oroville businesses and wonderful people help put this Free Fishing Derby on. The morning starts with a Free Pancake Breakfast for children 12 and under and donations are appreciated for 13 and up breakfasts. There are loaner poles for the kids to use and bait is also provided for the kids as they head down to Joe's Lagoon to catch two fish. For the physically challenged and kids 6 years and younger can fish at Jim's Pond with the help of our volunteers (kids must be old enough to hold the pole) helping them get their catch of the day, A free photo and fish cleaning is provided for all too! If the fishing is a little slow you can take a break and enjoy the booth activities. The day is filled with fun so come and be a part of the 19th Annual "Hooked on Fishing...Not on Drugs" free fishing derby.

Classic Cars: Packard in the 1930s

Bolt's Museum is proud to welcome back Garry Gunderson to their "Third Saturday" presentation series. Garry will give a "brand new"  informative presentation on Packard Automobiles of the 1930s which were some of the best machines of that era. Many Presidents, Kings and business moguls bought the big V-12 and Super Eight cars and in 1935, Packard offered the more affordable Packard 120 straight eight fondly remembered by many lucky owners. Mr. Gunderson has studied, restored and collected antique automobiles for about 40 years and will have his 1939 Packard Twelve on display to point out features and designs used on this luxury model auto . Did you know it took four years of training for a driver to adeptly guide a team of horses pulling a stagecoach?  Lee Dummel will tell you about the training of the Knights of the Whip, the construction of stagecoaches and their routes here in the North State and much more if you join us on June 18th at the Pioneer History Museum.  Talk starts at 1:30.

California Uniform Retail Food Facility Law requires re-testing and re-certification of competence in Food Safety and Sanitation every 5 years.  Passing the ServSafe® exam is necessary to renew your certification.  Includes the National Restaurant Association ServSafe® exam,  ServSafe® Essentials book, answer sheet & certificate.  The ServSafe® workshop is recognized by the by the California Health Department & fulfills State Certification obligations.
You will learn the importance of food safety practices and how to implement them in your food establishment. The trainer is a State certified & nationally known restaurant consultant. Participants must register and purchase books 3 weeks prior to class to allow for book delivery and self-study. Limited Seating!

Vintage Tractors

Bolt's Museum is proud to welcome back Rod Hisken to their "Third Saturday" presentation series. Rod is a rancher, tractor collector and restorer and just one of the most likeable guys around. Rod's talks are relaxed and humorous and will include information on tractors dating from 1892 to 1960. His displays and talks usually have local historical interest like the 1959 John Deere 620 Orchard Tractor he brought last year. (One of only 26 gas models made, and discovered locally). Many of the tractors that he has expertly restored are displayed at shows all around the country. Rod's friends usually bring their tractors too so, there's lots to see.
