Colleen Heauser Band LIVE at the Spirits Lounge!

25-year-old, Colleen Heauser grew up in the small town of Grass Valley, California. Her music career began during her college years when she was 19. “I didn’t eat for a few months to save up for my first guitar, but it was so worth it!” she said, “I had no idea how to play it, but I was committed to learning. I would stay up for hours playing until mt neighbors wanted to kill me and  my fingers were bleeding” Colleen graduated from Sacramento State University with a BA in Communications with an emphasis in Public Relations and minor in Digital Video and then embarked on her musical journey.

“I’ve always had a love for music of all kinds. When it comes to writing and playing music, there's something about that connection you feel when the guitar resonates on your tummy or the piano hits just right. It's beautiful."

"I have a love for words. They can devastate and destroy someone, but they can also piece someone back together. Words are unbelievably powerful, the only words you'll regret are the ones you left unsaid, or in my case unsung. I always compare it to a writer who wrote a book and then let no one read it. There was something I loved about singing in front of someone who connected with my lyrics. When people see me at my most vulnerable and powerful state and the moment is just right, I feel them see themselves through me, it’s beautiful.”

"Allowing vulnerability into your life might be the scariest thing ever but, I've learned the beauty in it. I've learned I have a gift to be shared with others. Allowing myself to be vulnerable as an artist pushes me out of my comfort zone but also opens the possibilities beyond anything you could imagine, a place where others can see themselves in you. Being a songwriter, you don't do it for recognition, you do it because you have something to say, to share and to connect with others. As an artist, that is my purpose. Music is my passion."

Ranell Carpenter LIVE at the Spirits Lounge!

Ranell Carpenter is a singer and songwriter from the Sierra foothills, a rising talent with smoldering vocals and roots in soul, blues and country.

Born and raised in the small town of Placerville California, she grew up in a loving family, riding horses and participating in competitive sports year round. Her love of singing evolved when she was 17 years old, though she had written lyrics and poetry her whole life.

After the loss of her father in 2010, Ranell dove head first into singing and landed herself the position as lead singer for the Ice House Blues Band. The band played in and around the foothills area for several years as Ranell built a fan base and explored the blues genre. Her love of the blues deepened but she never forgot her country roots. Her journey with the Ice House Blues Band left her a strong platform on which to build her music career.

Ranell  performs with many experienced and talented musicians from in and around the Sacramento area. Exploring the many avenues of music, she focuses her writing in the direction of country and blues. Ranell gives a dazzling performance, pouring her heart and soul in to every show.

With high expectations for her music career, Ranell Carpenter is a force to be reckoned with.

Early-Day Engines Presentation

Dick Watson is a long-standing collector of some of the rarest and most unusual early engines ever made. His collection is much more than just a static display of old iron because he has studied and repaired all of his engines so they work like new. This presentation will include information about the very unusual Sterling Hot Air Engine and he will entertain you with a demonstration of a few of these ancient engines in action. Don't miss your chance to see these unusual machines. The museum is located at 1650 Broderick St. and your $3.00 entry fee allows you to hear his presentation and also enjoy the 12,000+ tools on display as well.
