The New Cat Science: Paradise

Join or renew your OLLI membership to attend this class.
Class meets on Mondays from 1:00 pm -2:30pm from 9/28/15 - 12/7/15.
Peer leader:  Elizabeth Colleran

Ever wonder why the creature living in your house runs wildly through it as if pursued by a ghost? Leaves mice parts on the doormat for you? Even the most adoring cat owner may not understand the complexities of the feline, the importance of the carnivore connection and how cats think. We will trace the evolution of the domestic cat from solitary hunter to occupant of our bedrooms. Cats remain independent, predatory, and wary of social contact yet bond with us in powerful relationships. This course will illuminate their ancient quirks and how they inform our daily lives with them.

Sierra Oro Farm Trail Passport Weekend!

The 10th annual Sierra Oro Farm Trail passport weekend is going to be the biggest celebration yet on October 10 & 11 (Columbus Day Weekend)!  Perfect for foodies, wine and beer enthusiasts and travelers looking for a weekend getaway or a chance to explore off-the-beaten trail…this agri-tourism adventure provides trail goers with the once-a-year chance to savor the farm-fresh bounty of Butte County all weekend long.  In fact, Passport holders can set their own pace, take self-guided tours of the scenic agricultural trails, meet local farmers and winemakers and sample the amazing bounty of locally-owned wineries and specialty farms located throughout Butte County.  One passport opens the doors to dozens of specialty farms and wineries where visitors will share samples of tasty artisan olive oils, specialty nuts, award-winning wines and much more! There are 4 new farms to experience on the Sierra Oro Farm Trail in 2015. Make sure to pack your ice chest. Due to the popularity of the Passport Weekend each year, an early sell-out is expected.  Advance tickets are recommended and will be available in early September.  More information is available by calling 530-530-533-1473 or visiting www.sierraoro.org

CONCERT- KEVIN JOHNSON - VENTRILOQUIST

KEVIN JOHNSON - VENTRILOQUIST nearly all his life.  It all started when he was nine years old, after his parents gave him his first pull-string dummy for Christmas.  Having no formal training, he taught himself the art of ventriloquism over a four year period.  He developed his tehnique from a parrot.  It intrigued him that parrots could speak so clearly without the use of lips.  So he re-learned how to speak all together with the use of his tongue and his throat.  Is it any wonder that his two closest friends, Clyde and Matilda, are birds?
