05/07/12Butte College Hosts Forums to Plan for the Future
College Hosts Community Forums to Plan for the Future Butte College is seeking input from the public as it begins the process of developing new Strategic and Educational Master Plans. During these times of declining financial resources and increasing focus on student success and completion, it is important that the college has the right strategies in place to support the educational and workforce development needs of local communities. These plans will define the college's priorities for the next 10 years in the areas of educational programming, student support services, on and off-campus development, human resource development, and technology. Based on significant reductions in state funding, the college has been forced to downsize its schedule, eliminate Winter Session, and reduce the level of support services provided to students. "Since we are the community's college, it is important to begin our planning with a series of informed discussions with the communities and public we serve. We've organized several planning forums to offer an informative session about the college followed by collaborative sessions to determine how we can work in innovative ways to improve outcomes for our students and to better support our communities. The public is invited to attend," said Dr. Kimberly Perry, Butte College president. The input provided during these sessions will be used in the development of the Strategic and Educational Master Plans. Participants will be offered the outcomes from all of the sessions as well as regular updates on the development of these plans. For more information, contact Butte College at 530-895-2937.
