HIPPY is an evidenced-based early learning program that supports parents in their critical role of being their child?s first and most influential teacher. They are currently serving 90 families in Monroe county, this is done with a coordinator and five home visitors. Over the past 14 years HIPPY of Monroe county has served over 1300 families. In the HIPPY model, home visitors deliver 30 weeks of quality school readiness curriculum directly to the parent, who then works with their own two, three or four-year-old child. HIPPY supplies the books, curriculum and materials needed for the parent to teach their child.

The Monroeville group will be coordinated by Bria Royster, and an interest meeting is scheduled for Saturday, March 14 at 9:00 am in Monroeville. The foundation is solely supported by individual and corporate donations, and is not part of any government entity. *Major sponsor of HIPPY (Home Instruction for Parents of Pre-School Youngsters *Sponsors annually Wanda Robbins Scholarship in memory of the late Wanda Robbins, a board member of King?s Kids Foundation *Missoula Children?s Theatre: Sponsors this one week theatrical experience for Monroe County children, ages 5 ? 18. *Monroeville Literary Festival: sponsors children?s authors for this annual event (first time in 2022). *Big Brothers/Big Sisters of South Alabama: King?s Kids sponsors this mentorship program at Monroeville Elementary and Monroeville Middle School. *Books for Babies: provides free books to children born at Monroe County Hospital. *Dolly Parton Imagination Library: Partnering with Monroeville Kiwanis Club to launch this program in Spring/Summer 2022. Children from birth to age 5 are eligible to be enrolled and each enrollee will receive a personally inscribed age appropriate book delivered monthly, equating to as many as 60 books, for the child?s personal library.
