Valdosta State University's Small Business Development Center is a public service outreach unit that provides business and economic development assistance for Atkinson, Berrien, Brooks, Clinch, Coffee, Cook, Echols, Lanier, Lowndes, and Thomas Counties in South Central Georgia. As part of VSU's Harley Langdale, Jr. College of Business Administration, the SBDC is an essential resource for small businesses. Practical experience, combined with advanced education, gives our consultants the ability to apply current business theory to the challenges faced by today's entrepreneurs.
As part of The Georgia Small Business Development Center Network, the VSU SBDC is one of seventeen offices located throughout the state. In 2012, The Georgia SBDC Network celebrated its 35th Anniversary of providing "Expertise for Entrepreneurs!" Headquartered at the University of Georgia in Athens, VSU's SBDC is working in partnership with seven other universities and colleges to provide business consulting and continuing education opportunities to Georgia's entrepreneurs.
Annually, the Georgia SBDC Network provides consulting assistance to more than 5,000 business clients on a wide variety of topics such as writing a business plan, applying for a loan or other financial assistance, QuickBooks, and marketing their products or services. Additionally, the SBDC provides continuing education programs to more than 10,000 individuals each year on a diverse curriculum including Starting a Business, QuickBooks, Sales and Use Tax, Marketing, Business Planning, and others. The Georgia SBDC Network is proud to be the premiere service provider to the state's small businesses.
