Dating back to the early 1900s with the establishment of the Berkeley Olive Association, the Berkeley Olive Grove 1913 organic olive oil is the product of a long and unique heritage. Nearly a century later, Darro and Olivia Grieco began bringing the historic orchard back to its full potential. Certified organic, the Berkeley Olive Grove continues with most current sustainable practices supporting both orchard and wildlife. Producing their first olive oil in the spring of 2008, all three oils won medals in competition. The 2009 olive oils each won awards which include Best of Class and Best of Show in the L.A. International Extra Virgin Olive Oil Competition. The 2010 organic olive oils have been awarded medals in the California Olive Oil Competition and the L.A. International Extra Virgin Olive Oil Competion. This year, besides certified extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) quality, the Berkeley Olive Grove 1913 company won a Gold Medal at the L.A. International EVOO Competion in presentation for "...understated, timeless elegance". Darro, ever attentive to quality and details, now displays each olive oil's lab analysis for polyphenols (relating to the antioxidant values) on the label.
Year after year, the mandarin ranch has been the source for great holiday gift packages, available for shipping nationwide. Our tree-ripened, hand-picked Satsuma mandarins are very sweet, easy to peel, and excellent for eating or juicing. We sell bag fruit, gift packages and baskets with other local specialty foods at our ranch and on our website. We will be open daily 8am to 5pm, November thru January.
