Hello, my name is Athena Stairs of Functional Relief Therapeutic Massage and I specialize in pain-free massage therapy that helps to restore muscular functional ease of movement in the body.
I combine what I call Rocking Compression with deep tissue, lymphatic, and cervical-spine-sacral remobilization techniques to help reduce pain and tension in the body from muscle overuse and injury.
This combination of techniques works to reduce the overload stress in larger working muscles while gently reactivating smaller structural support muscles, causing targeted groups to move better together at insertion and overlap points which helps restore their 3-dimensional cooperative synergy.
During a session, nourishing rehydration and oxygenation are also being pumped into previously starved tissues, and muscle fibers are being released to slide and glide more easily over each other and against bones so that the body can more fully embrace ease-of-movement recovery.
