Event Description
Younger Professionals in Corvallis:
Indispensable or Invisible?

With Chris Nordyke (State Farm), Matt Andresen (Chase Bank and Funneli) and Molly Marcum (Samaritan Health Services)

What is the role of younger professionals in Corvallis? Are the voices of 20- and 30-somethings heard in the business community? In local government? Why or why not? Do the behaviors of established professionals influence civic engagement in their younger colleagues? How do we get tomorrow’s leaders actively involved today?

Join us for a discussion with three local professionals as they share their experiences and ideas for getting and keeping Generations X and Y actively engaged in our community.

Chris Nordyke, who was born and raised in Corvallis, owns a local State Farm Insurance agency. Chris sits on the board of the Boys and Girls Club of Corvallis, is one of the founding members of Corvallis Young Pros, and also founded SpeakerLunch.com.

Matt Andresen is a Licensed Personal Banker at Chase Bank and a Co-Founder of Funneli, a local software startup. He has lived in Corvallis for 28 years. Matt sits on the board of Corvallis Montessori, Heartland Humane Society, Corvallis-Benton Chamber Coalition and Corvallis Young Pros.

Molly Marcum is a Marketing and Public Relations Manager for Samaritan Health Services. She sits on the board of Corvallis Young Pros, Girls on the Run Willamette Valley and Court Appointed Special Advocates - Voices for Children. She has lived in Corvallis for a total of six years.
