Steel Days 2020 Art Show

The Steel Days Committee has made every effort to ensure the safety of all attendees and volunteers and make this a contagion-free event, and we will strictly adhere to all county and state guidelines and mandates. However, you acknowledge that we cannot guarantee all risks of infection are eliminated.

By attending any Steel Days event, you are acknowledging that an inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public place where people are present. You and any guests voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19 and agree not to hold the Steel Days Committee, American Fork City, the American Fork Chamber of Commerce, volunteers, sponsors, businesses, organizations, employees, or their affiliates liable for any illness or injury.

By registering, you agree that neither you nor anyone who will be present at the event have any illness symptoms or are in a high-risk category for COVID-19. While at the event, you agree to follow all the COVID-19 safety guidelines and any additional instructions from the Steel Days Committee and volunteers and American Fork City and staff and agree to put forth your best efforts to ensure the safety of all members of your party.

The 2020 Art Show will be exhibited at the American Fork Library (64 S. 100 E.) on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, July 7-9 from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and on Friday, July 10 and Saturday, July 11 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Art Show is FREE TO THE PUBLIC and all local artists are invited to showcase their artwork!

IMPORTANT: Please read the following information carefully! The Art Show rules have changed due to current health and safety standards.

Age Divisions: Youth and Adult. The Youth category is split into High School, Junior High, Intermediate (grades 4-6), Primary (grades 1-3), and Kindergarten/Preschool. The Adult category is split into Experienced (professional artists) and Novice.

Entry Fee: $10 per entry for adults
                   $5 per entry for youth

LIMIT ONE ENTRY PER ARTIST! Also, please note that all entries are final and no refunds will be issued.

Media Categories:

  • Painting: oil, acrylic, water color
  • Photography: color, black/white, digital
  • Mixed Media: two dimensional work that includes two or more different mediums - chalk, paper, collage, paint, graphite, wire, fabric, etc.
  • Drawing: graphite, charcoal. colored pencil, digital, calligraphy, markers, etc.
  • Sculpture: three dimensional work in clay, stone, bronze, sculpture/woodcarving, metal, etc.
Art Drop-off will be on Monday, July 6 between 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. at the American Fork Library. 

Art Entry Rules:
  • All participating artists need to register before Sunday, July 5 by midnight
  • Only one entry per artist
  • All 2-D artwork in youth and adult divisions must be framed with a wire hanger on the back (See diagram 1). Any entry that does not have a wire hanger (see diagram 2-6) will be disqualified to enter the show and the entry fee will be forfeited and donated to the city of American Fork
  • A printed copy of the confirmation email must be shown at the art drop-off
  • Artwork must not exceed 36 inches in any direction
  • Entries must not exceed 15 pounds
  • All art entries must be picked up at the AF Library on Monday, July 13

Awards: 
Professional artists in the American Fork Visual Arts Program will select the art for awards. Entries in the Youth and Adult Divisions may be awarded first, second, and third place ribbons with small cash awards in each category. Honorable mention awards may also be given. Special awards are "Best of Show," "Mayor's Choice," and "Timpanogos Arts Foundation’s Choice."

Artist Reception and Awards Ceremony: An artist reception and awards ceremony will be held on Thursday, July 9 at 7:00 p.m. at Robinson Park (100 E. Main St).
 
Art Release:  Art release will be Monday, July 13 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.  All artwork must be picked up before the AF Library closes. Any artwork not picked up on that date will be taken to the Art Center on 53 West Main Street, American Fork and be fined a $10 storage fee. Artwork left at the Art Center after 30 days will become the property of the Timpanogos Arts Foundation.

Steel Days is a long-time tradition in American Fork, and we are excited for the 2020 Steel Days Celebration! The Steel Days Food and Vendor Expo runs from 5:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. on Friday, July 10th and from 5:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 11th.

FOOD VENDORS
Parking will be on a first come, first serve basis for Food Trucks. Please choose the type of food you will be selling from the options listed.

NON-FOOD VENDORS
Each booth space is approx. 10' x 10' and there will be an appropriate amount of space between booths to ensure proper distancing. You will be assigned a booth space for the Steel Days Food and Vendor Expo and then notified of the space number. We will do everything in our power to make sure your assigned booth space is your actual space for the event. (If changes occur, we will put you as close to your assigned space as possible.) Please be aware that Steel Days does not jury booth items; therefore, competitors selling the same or similar products might be located in the same area.


Vendors can start arriving for set-up at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Also, please note that the police will not allow any vehicles into Art Dye Park after 9:00 p.m. on Saturday as they use both lanes of the road for cars to exit the park. Please plan accordingly.

July North Utah County Chamber Alliance Connect 4 Lunch

Looking for a great way to network with business owners and professionals? Join us on Thursday, June 16th at Lost Hermanos in Lindon for our Connect 4 Lunch event hosted by the Pleasant Grove-Lindon Chamber of Commerce. This event was created in response to feedback from the American Fork, Pleasant Grove-Lindon, Eagle Mountain, and Point of the Mountain Chambers of Commerce and has become a popular way to network AND enjoy an amazing lunch at the same time!

Connect 4 Lunch will be held on the THIRD Thursday of every month. This event is free to attend - you just need to pay for your own lunch. Please remember to bring your business cards and, if you would like, a prize to give away during the lunch.

The next Connect 4 Lunch will be on August 20th.
