"South of Winslow" band is a collection of five talented seasoned musicians that perform Eagles music exclusively. Arguably the most universally known and loved band of the last 40 years, Eagles' music strikes a chord and connection with all ages.

On stage, South of Winslow's dedication to vocal and musical mastery places them second-to-none with their performance of Eagles' popular classics. The band members include Bill Yates on drums, Bruce Gustin on lead guitar, David Solomon on rhythm guitar/ key board, Mark Myers, lead guitar and Tim Gliddon on bass guitar.

All members share singing lead and together sing complex five part harmonies. The band has performed throughout Arizona, Nevada and Hawaii. Aside from their physical appearance, they have been mistaken for the real Eagles by listeners.

The band's history includes an international event multi-band performance to a concert assembly of 18,000 in Honolulu. At that event the band performed on same stage with legendary song artists Kenny Loggins, Steve Augeri of Journey and Mickey Thomas of Jefferson Starship.

Ales on Rails
What better season offers the perfect reason to savor the Arizona outdoors than Autumn? The cooling temperatures inspire the riparian foliage to mellow, filling the Verde Canyon with gold, amber and scarlet. The ripened bronzing of the wilderness is echoed by rich Arizona craft beers served during Verde Canyon Railroad’s ever-popular Ales on Rails event every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from October 5th to the 29th.

This popular seasonal party begins prior to the train's 1:00pm departure, starting each day at 11:00 a.m. on the depot patio with a great selection of Arizona craft beers, ranging from light and summery Kolsch to high-octane lagers and IPAs, from coppery-red and Scotch ales to dark stouts and chocolate porters. These Oktoberfest-style brews may have German roots but all are produced in Arizona breweries. Ales on Rails features an optional lunch of grilled sausages, special-recipe potato salad and hot pretzels served with a variety of gourmet cheeses perfect for dipping. All pair well with Arizona beers making it easy to find a winning combination.

The party continues onboard where beers may be purchased during the Fall Colors Tour, along with Verde Canyon Railroad’s own private-label beers from Sedona’s Oak Creek Brewing Company.

Leonard Bernstein once exclaimed, “The work I have been writing all my life is about the struggle that is born of the crisis of our century: a crisis of faith.” With the “Jeremiah” Symphony, Bernstein began a musical exploration of his religious faith that would inspire many of his serious compositions. Johannes Brahms experienced his own crisis while composing his monumental First Symphony – that of escaping the shadow of Beethoven. Experience how these struggles gave way to two modern classics with Tito Muñoz and The Phoenix Symphony.

Prescott POPS Symphony "Cartoon Tunes" Concert
All of us started out in early childhood experiencing the marvel of Saturday morning’s best entertainment. Cartoons were vessels of laughter, joy, action, and adventure delivered through a fun package of colorful animated characters and wrapped in some of our most memorable music. Many famous cartoons dating back to the 1930’s brought their characters to life to the tune of classical music like Brahm’s Hungarian Dances (WB Looney Tunes “Pigs in a Polka” c. 1943), Bugs Bunny’s memorable performance of Rossini’s Barber of Seville Overture in “The Rabbit of Seville” (WB Looney Tunes c. 1946) and Elmer Fudd’s astonishing 1957 performance in WB’s “Kill The Wabbit” (Wagner’s Flight of the Valkeries).

Maestro Joseph Place and the Prescott POPS Symphony will perform a marvelous program of toon tunes from the past that will make you smile…and the specifics are to be a surprise! So get your tickets and pretend you’re going to Corny-Gie Hall with Porky Pig and Bugs for the Corny Concerto…That’s All Folks!

Griefwalker - Documentary Showing

Griefwalker is a National Film Board of Canada feature documentary film, directed by Tim Wilson. It is a lyrical, poetic portrait of Stephen Jenkinson’s work with dying people. Filmed over a twelve year period, Griefwalker shows Jenkinson in teaching sessions with doctors and nurses, in counselling sessions with dying people and their families, and in meditative and often frank exchanges with the film’s director while paddling a birch bark canoe about the origins and consequences of his ideas for how we live and die. “If you love somebody, if you care about the world that’s to come after you, and if you want somebody to be spared the lunacy of what you’ve seen – you’ve got to die wise.”

In The Christmas Mood

 “In the Christmas Mood”

Presented by: Khris Dodge Entertainment

Friday, December 1st - 7:00pm

$22/$25

Throughout the 60s and 70s, Andy Williams was synonymous with Christmastime. His television specials were the hallmark of the holidays, and most Prescott residents have a story or two about gathering the family around the tree to listen to Andy Williams, his brothers, the Osmonds, and others sing the songs of the holidays.

On Friday, December 1st, the Elks Theatre will come alive with the spirt of those holiday specials with In the Christmas Mood: A Holiday Music Spectacular, produced by Khris Dodge Entertainment. The show features a star-studded cast including special guests, and a seven-piece band complete with horns that will light up the theater.

The show will feature treasured holiday songs such as “Sleigh Ride,” “Happy Holidays,” “Jingle Bells,” “The Christmas Song,” and much, much more. There couldn’t be a more perfect evening to be spent at the theatre getting in the mood for Christmas.

Die Wise: Making Meaning of the Ending of Days

Stephen Jenkinson teaches internationally and is the creator and principal instructor of the Orphan Wisdom School, founded in 2010. With Master’s degrees from Harvard University (Theology) and the University of Toronto (Social Work), he is revolutionizing grief and dying in North America. Stephen is redefining what it means to live, and die well. Apprenticed to a master storyteller, he has worked extensively with dying people and their families, is former programme director in a major Canadian hospital, former assistant professor in a prominent Canadian medical school, consultant to palliative care and hospice organizations and educator and advocate in the helping professions. He is also a sculptor, traditional canoe builder whose house won a Governor General’s Award for architecture. He is the author of Die Wise: A Manifesto for Sanity and Soul (2015),

Dying well is not a matter of enlightened self-interest or personal preference. Dying well must become an obligation that living people and dying people owe to each other and to those to come. Stephen teaches the skills of dying, skills that have to be learned in the course of living deeply and well. Not a seven step coping strategy, not an out-clause for trauma or sorrow,This teaching is for everyone who, hell or high water, is not going to pull off eternity after all. Dying is not the end of wisdom and wisdom not exhausted by dying. Dying could be and must be the fullest expression and incarnation of what you’ve learned by living. It’s a moral obligation to die well.

If you love somebody, if you care about the world that’s to come after you, if you want somebody to be spared the lunacy of what you’ve seen, you’ve got to die wise.

The Merry Wives of Windsor / Flagstaff Shakespeare Festival

Flagstaff Shakespeare Festival

Presents

The Merry Wives of Windsor

This “citizen comedy” is a lively portrait of Elizabethan England in which Shakespeare leaves the realm of royal intrigue and follows the laughable, if not always lovable, Sir John Falstaff off the battlefield and into a romantic fray. Sir John’s would-be lovers band together to give the scheming knight his comeuppance in a hilarious tale that anticipates the screwball comedy of 20th-century film but retains the Bard’s signature wit and sophistication.

You’ll cheer aloud for the cheeky women of Windsor as they band together, and stick up for themselves, to find, reignite, and maintain their romances.

Prescott Ghost Talk 2014
Don’t miss the opportunity to be part of Prescott Ghost Talk 2014!  This year the annual Prescott Ghost Talk performances will be held on two nights: Friday, October 24th and Saturday, Oct. 25.  Given our sold out performances each year, we are adding one more show at 9:00 pm on Saturday. These five shows (Friday and Saturday at 6:00pm, 7:30pm and Saturday at 9:00pm will offer nearly 1,000 guests to enjoy Ghost Talk!

Experience Arizona's past when famous and infamous "spirits" enact historic ghostly folklore at Prescott Center for the Arts (PCA), 208 N. Marina St., Prescott. This is a collaborative fundraiser between the West Yavapai Guidance Clinic (WYGC) Foundation and PCA - two well-known local nonprofits with two very distinct missions coming together as one to benefit children! You can help make a difference for these organizations with a tax-deductible contribution.  Tickets are available online from the Prescott Center of the Arts or by visiting their box office.

These dramatic performances are designed for adults and not recommended for youngsters 7 and under. After all, it can get pretty spooky!

Skirting Traditions Lecture Series
Pauline Bates Brown, Pauline Elizabeth Cooper (called "Polly" by her family) was born March 26, 1901 to John and Elizabeth (Davis) Cooper in an area north of Garber in Oklahoma Territory. Pauline went on to be the first woman Sunday editor at the Arizona Republic in the early 1930s, at a time when other women were losing their jobs. She was press officer for the Japanese American internment camp in Poston, Ariz., and information specialist with the Indian Service of the U.S. Department of the Interior in Phoenix. Pauline was also one of the founding members of the Arizona Press Women.

Brenda Kimsey Warneka, who served as project leader for "Skirting Traditions," is an award-winning writer and editor with a background in law and business. She is president of Arizona Women Press Women and is also co-editor and a contributor to the 2010 award winning anthology "Mystery of Fate: Common Coincidence or Divine Intervention?" Warneka has a background in law and the computer industry, and for a number of years, wrote a column for the Maricopa Lawyer, a Maricopa County Bar publication. She has a Bachelor of Arts in history from Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan, and a law degree from Wayne State University Law School. In addition, she won the 2008 Annual Nonfiction Award by Arizona Attorney magazine for her story "The Traffic Stop."

Skirting Traditions: Arizona Women Writers and Journalists 1912-2012, an anthology, chronicles the lives and accomplishments of 28 Arizona women who exhibited resilience, creativity and the grit to survive, whether on the frontier of a young state or in a male-dominated profession. These are women who in their time, by "skirting traditions," were often controversial. The narratives in "Skirting Traditions" move forward from the beginning of statehood in 1912 to the modern day, describing daring feats, patriotic actions, and amazing accomplishments by women profiled. Please visit the Sharlot Hall Museum store to purchase your own copy of this book for $22.95.

In 2012, the book was designated an Arizona Centennial Legacy Project by the Arizona Historical Advisory Commission. Eighteen award winning members of the Arizona Press Women, sponsored by the National Federation of Press Women Education Fund, each penned a chapter for this project. Proceeds from book sales will fund college scholarships in Arizona.

To celebrate this centennial project Sharlot Hall Museum is pleased to present a series of lectures by each of the authors of Skirting Traditions throughout 2013.

The Prescott Film Festival Presents "Nosferatu"
This Halloween The Prescott Film Festival will be screening "Nosferatu" with live piano accompaniment by Jonathan Best! This classic silent film is based on Bram Stoker's Dracula and is the first film adaptation. One problem though- They didn't get permission from Stoker's estate. They did change some of the key locations and characters names; but in the end, it was still the original story of Dracula.

Prescott Film Festival Presents "Kings of Summer"
"I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately..." Henry David Thoreau wrote those oft-quoted words. In the new indie film "The Kings of Summer," three adolescent boys bent on escaping the clutches of their parents have decided to leave home and live in the woods in this coming of age film that packs in laughs, discovery, and parent/child relationships.

The boys decide they can't handle their parents and their reality, so they decide to create their own world and build a house in the middle of a woods-surrounded meadow. Of course, they don't tell their parents so the whole town thinks they have all been kidnapped.

City-wide panic and emotions ensue. Join us for this fun and compelling indie film!

Shattered to Shining: the Experience
Millions of people consider themselves a victim because trauma has seemingly SHATTERED their life. In this event Mozelle will be your gentle drill sergeant, and your feminine tomboy.... she will powerfully challenge your outdated beliefs, toxic mindsets, and self-sabotaging behaviors.

You may not be aware that she has more skills than just forensic handwriting analysis and this event is NOT about handwriting. If you are unsure of her background, please Meet Mozelle.

During this Experience, Mozelle will combine her street smarts and personal healing journey with her 30 years in forensics and mental health to help you self-identify the areas that are robbing you of your happiness, sabotaging your relationships, and breaking down your hopes & dreams.

YOU ARE INVITED to SHARE what is currently troubling you and be open-minded to the tips and tricks Mozelle may share that will help you reverse the "damage" that your subconscious has caused in the interest of "protecting" you.

Mozelle offers an interactive experience to help prepare, inspire, and motivate you to apply the lessons, tips, practical tricks, and powerful tools to reverse it all. These are all things you can continue to do in the comfort of your home.

Remember - your results are equivalent to what you put into the achievement of your goals. If your goal is to have the life you KNOW you can have and you have not taken any ACTION steps, then why YOU ARE INVITED to start here.

CONSIDER THIS EXPERIENCE like spending a transformational evening with a mix of Tony Robbins and Mel Robbins. Mozelle will bridge psychology, forensics, and spirituality to HELP YOU go from "SHATTERED to SHINING".

** INVESTMENT? LOVE DONATION **

For this event only, there is NO cost because it will be videotaped and many photos will be taken. However, if you are inspired and intuitively led to give a love donation that would be greatly appreciated.

This is part of the launch of her new program that has been in the works for over a year. This event was successful in other locations and now it is time to bring it home to Phoenix.

Stephen Jenkinson / Author Talk

Die Wise teaches the skills of dying, skills that have to be learned in the course of living deeply and well. Not a seven step coping strategy, not an out-clause for trauma or sorrow, Die Wise is for everyone who, hell or high water, is not going to pull off eternity after all.

The Manhattan Dolls- “Sentimental Journey”

Hop aboard the “Chattanooga Choo Choo” and join The Manhattan Dolls on a “Sentimental Journey” through the great music of the 30s and 40s. Sit back and enjoy these timeless classics, or if you're “In the Mood” get up and dance!  Sentimental Journey blends beautiful ballads with your favorite toe-tapping tunes, and of course, in classic USO fashion, takes some time to honor our brave men and women in the military.  From boogie-woogie to the blues, Sentimental Journey celebrates the best the Great American Songbook has to offer.

The Best Is Yet To Come!
"The Best is Yet to Come!" is a movement of those in the second half of life throughout the quad-cities who are passionate about fulfilling their God-size dreams and destiny. Retirement is not a part of the framework of the Kingdom of God. Instead, Senior Saints are meant to advance forward, abundantly sowing from the breadth and depth of their many years of experience, wisdom, and insights.

If you're 55 or better, we invite you to join us for a special kickoff gathering. We'll be encouraging, praying, envisioning, and honoring you and your latter years. It is a time for God’s Senior Saints to arise for such a time as this (Esther 4:14). Truly, the latter years are to be more glorious than the former (Haggai 2:9).

If you or someone you know is searching for where they can thrive using the gifts and graces God has given them, then join us on October 3rd!

For more information email us at TheBestIsYetToComeArizona@gmail.com or call 928-848-7710. This is a free event.
