History on the Lawn Celebration

Oconee Historical Society's History on the Lawn Celebration. Watkinsville's first and largest family picnic. Sunday, November 10, 2013 1:00-6:00 pm. There will be books, arts, crafts, ol' timey music and games. Free Admission. Ashford Manor & Ashford Manor on Main, Downtown Watkinsville. Prizes for Best Historical Costume;Tell your stories & have them recorded for future generations to enjoy, See Oconee County History in pictures & videos; Bring old family photos, art, maps, documents, letters, diaries & clippings to share. Pack your own meals, beverage of choice, or carry out from local restaurants with your own tables, chairs and blankets for an all-day event. In collaboration with UNG.

rogram into your business. Drug use in your business costs money, customers and lost productivity!

The General Assembly passed a 7.5% premium discount in workers' compensation insurance based on a certified drug-free workplace. The Oconee Chamber of Commerce provides the Drugs Don't Work program to our members free of charge, and gives the necessary tools to empower business owners to maintain a drug-free workplace. Enrollment and certification through the Drugs Don't Work program can also help lower workers' compensation premiums.

Founder of beremedy to speak at UNG's Gainesville Campus

(Oct. 31, 2013) – The Center for the Future of North Georgia and the Mike Cottrell College of Business at the University of North Georgia (UNG) will present the second event of the year for the Cottrell Speaker Series, titled "From Ideas to Reality: Leaders in Entrepreneurship and Innovation."

Blake Canterbury, CEO and founder of beremedy, will be on UNG's Gainesville Campus at noon on Nov. 4 in the auditorium of the Continuing Education Center to discuss the company's beginnings and opportunities in social entrepreneurship. Canterbury founded beremedy on a very simple premise: see the need. Be the remedy.

Women’s Business Expo offered at UGA's Small Business Development Center

The University of Georgia Small Business Development Center presents its Second Annual “Women’s Business Expo” Friday, December 6th.
 
Athens, GA - The University of Georgia Small Business Development Center will present its second annual Women’s Business Expo on Friday, December 6 at the Athens SBDC. 
 
The Women’s Business Expo will allow attendees the opportunity to meet other women in business from the Athens area for networking and presentations by women professionals in public relations and online marketing.  The event includes a holiday lunch catered by Magnolias and door prizes. Exhibit booths will be available for an additional fee.
 
The Expo will be held on Friday, December 6 at the Athens SBDC, Chicopee Complex, 1180 East Broad Street, Athens, GA 30602. Individual registration is $39; Exhibit booth rental is $50 and includes one individual registration.
