Job Description Title Executive Director Reports to Board of Directors Job summary The Executive Manager is the chief executive and administrative officer of the organization. The Executive Manager is responsible to the Board of Directors for the full range of Chamber activities. The incumbent implements chamber policies and procedures as directed by the Board of Directors. This job description is intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification. They are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties, and skills required of personnel so classified. All personnel may be required to perform duties outside of their normal responsibilities from time to time, as needed. Summary of essential job functions o Leads and directs the activities and resources of the organization. Establishes and submits to the Board an annual business plan which correlates to and facilitates the Board established goals and objectives. Works with the Board for document approval and subsequent implementation. Works with Board to establish and implement the corporate mission and vision. Demonstrates leadership in the community through involvement and participation. o Manages the Fiscal resources of the organization. Works with the Treasurer to establish the annual operating budget. Oversees all expenditures in accordance with budget. Evaluates and implements programs or services which generate revenue for the organization. o Manages all staffing. Maintains a professional, educated staff. Assures staff has adequate training, supervision, and regular performance evaluations. Provides opportunities for staff to develop professionally. o Communicates effectively to all staff, members, Board members, and members of the community. Responsible to see that organizational and business concerns are communicated regularly and effectively to all interested parties and to see that organizational brochures, newsletters, and electronic communication are accurate, timely, and reflective of the Chamber business positions. Provides and promotes opportunities for public forums or input. Public speaking skills and strong presentation skills recommended. o Establishes relationships with all interested parties. Works with state, federal, city, and county legislators to communicate the needs of the community and Chamber members. Reports to the Board regarding special events or circumstances affecting The Chamber membership and directs appropriate Chamber response. Participates in Chamber activities to promote and enhance the image and relationship of the Chamber with all groups and parties in the community. o Works effectively with the Board. Provides leadership, training, and input to the Board. Communicates effectively with all Board members. Assures Board meetings are timely and in accordance with the organizational bylaws. Serves on the Executive Committee and assists the officers with input and guidance when needed. o Assures adequate records of all transactions and correspondence are maintained for review by auditors, the Board, or other officials or agencies. o Coordination of the program of work; organizational structure and procedures; motivation of volunteers; income and expenditures; maintenance of membership; employment, training and supervision of staff; interpretation of policy; maintenance of quarters; long-range planning. o Direct the external and internal Chamber activities that promote tourism and economic growth within the membership and community. o Responsible for overseeing company finances, outside contracts and budget. o Establishes the organizational structure for office and staff, and implements Chamber policies and procedures as directed by the Board. Minimum requirements Associates Degree or higher. Staff and employee management. Experience in Planning Special Events and Coordination of Special Events. Business management experience. Experience with a Chamber of Commerce or similar non-profit organization preferred but not required. Familiarity with Oroville business community or other similar business community preferable. WACE certification a plus. Required Licenses and Certificates Must have a (1) valid California driver’s license, (2) current DMV printout (annual), (3) copy of private vehicle insurance declaration page and (4) copy of WACE certification (if applicable). Physical Requirements of the Job Must be able to work in a typical office setting for up to 10 hours at a time. Typical activities include, but are not limited to, sitting or standing for prolonged periods of time, climbing stairs, working while standing, walking to and from various points in the office, reaching into high and low cabinets, working on a keyboard and with a mouse for long periods of time. Also must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Compensation Salary : $38,000-$48,000 D.O.E.
