About Us
The OROVILLE CONCERT ASSOCIATION has been bringing professional entertainment to this area for an uninterrupted 58 years. Our mission is to offer every man, woman and child in this community the opportunity to experience the magic of affordable, live, quality performances by bringing audiences and professional artists together.
Each season we present a series of 5 live performances at the historic and beautiful State Theater in downtown Oroville, as well as providing 5 free matinees for the schools each year. Yearly memberships include a ticket to each of the 5 shows and cost $50. The 725 available subscriptions sell out each year, but a few tickets are set aside and available at the door for each event at a cost of $25 each, space available.
The OROVILLE CONCERT ASSOCIATION is also supported by Patron Donations and Corporate Sponsorships.
2011-2012 SEASON ARTISTS:
THE WATER COOLERS
SATURDAY
SEPTEMBER 24, 2011 7:30 PM
"It's your life -- but killer funny." That's how the members of this award-winning comedy troupe make everybody laugh. With original music and parodies of familiar songs, on-point material about life and work, and superior comedy writing, this cast of five NYC comics and singers (with piano accompaniment) celebrates the insanity of everyday life. Each performance is a high-energy, hilarious session of song and sketch comedy, kept fresh by the ever-changing challenges of modern life.
The Water Coolers turn headaches and hassles into hilarity.
SHANGRI-LA CHINESE ACROBATS
THURSDAY
OCTOBER 6, 2011 7:30 PM
For more than a quarter of a century, The Shangri-La Chinese Acrobats have been the perfect high-energy attraction for hundreds of universities and performing arts centers. The members of this 12 to 15 member troupe flawlessly interpret the precision and grace of an art form honed by centuries of training and discipline. Their multi-faceted and multi-cultural production features dazzling acrobatic displays, formidable feats of daring and balance, explosive energy, brilliant costumes and a touch of Chinese comedy.
THE POULENC TRIO

Whatever the stage the trio's performances leap beyond the ordinary concert experience to a world of beautiful sonoriites, playful rhythms and dramatic excitement.
KAORI FUJII & ERIC CECIL DUO
THURSDAY
FEBRUARY 16, 2012 7:30 PM
When the sturdy tones of a guitar blend with the textured breath of a flute, their music takes flight. Two exceptional classical musicians, flutist Kaori Fujii and guitarist Eric Cecil, guide audiences on a creative journey that soars from Bach to Brazilian choro. Together, playing the works of such composers as Bach, Rachmaninoff, Granados and Villa-Lobos, the duo's expressive, eclectic program captivates audiences.
AMERICAN SPIRIT
MONDAY
MARCH 5, 2010 7:30 PM
It's the music, moments and memories that make us proud to be Americans. Join the multi-talented cast of 10 as they take you on a powerful journey through the events and people that define the American spirit. With opportunities to feature soloists and choirs from our community; the show starts in the town square gazebo and comes marching right down the aisles. Filled with humor and heart, this production will renew your AMERICAN SPIRIT !!
INTRODUCING OROVILLE'S YOUTH TO THE FINE ARTS OF MUSIC AND ENTERTAINMENT is our most important endeavor. It is widley documented that children who have some sort of musical training excel beyond those who don't. We offer free concerts to the area's schools. Children learn the decorum of attending a live performance in a wonderful historical theater. Some of the comments we have received from them are:
"For the first time I noticed how beautiful the theater is. For my carrer I plan to be an actor because I get a thrill out of it but I still will enjoy Oroville concerts." "Thank you for the fabulous consert we saw." "I loved all the songs. I even loved the instruments. "They make such delightful sounds." Thank you for letting us come and see that wonderful performance. The music felt soft to my sensitive ears. It is so inspirational." I learned if you put your hand on your neck and say AHHH your neck vibrates." "I think that good behavior is very important at concerts and I suggest that these rules are followed--sitting, not talking, not kicking or disturbing the people in front of us." Dear Community Concert, thank you for putting on this beautiful show for us. I really appreciate the way you set all this up for us."
The OROVILLE CONCERT ASSOCIATION is organized and operated by a volunteer Board of Directors and committees (reception, membership drive, student matinees). If you would like to become involved with our Association please contact the Association President, Sharon Wedin, 589-0836
