Peoria Sports Complex New Scoreboard

Peoria Sports Complex Gets Largest Scoreboard of all Spring Training Stadiums

The Peoria Sports Complex will start the 2017 spring training season with a new scoreboard.

PEORIA, Ariz. (Feb. 2, 2017) – The Seattle Mariners and San Diego Padres partnered to bring the largest, high definition (HD) scoreboard in the Cactus and Grapefruit Leagues to the Peoria Sports Complex for spring training.

“The City of Peoria is a modern and innovative city and we work closely alongside our partners to ensure the Peoria Sports Complex reflects these same traits,” said Mayor Cathy Carlat. “The new digital scoreboard is designed for dynamic viewing; and with the additional improvements to the complex, Peoria has taken the fan experience to a new level.”

The new HD scoreboard is 2,100 square feet with a video display measuring 35 feet high and 61 feet wide. The video display will feature a 13HD LED pixel layout, making it easier for fans to see the board on sunny days and from any angle in the ballpark.

The screen can be broken into multiple zones and programmed with a combination of statistics, graphics and images. This scoreboard replaces the board originally installed when the complex opened in 1994 and it will also be the first time this new technology will be used at a spring training facility.

“This new scoreboard is a much-needed upgrade for the Peoria Sports Complex,” said Peoria City Manager Carl Swenson. “Not only does this improve the overall fan experience but it shows the strength of the Padres and Mariners committed partnership with Peoria.”

Accompanying the improved image and video quality of the scoreboard, the complex will also get an upgraded audio system with fully distributed sound that delivers clear, intelligible and powerful audio. Both the scoreboard and audio system are Daktronics products, the same company that installed the board at the Mariners Safeco Field.
